Eczema: Could be eczema ; you might want to try a cortisone cream. Unfortunately the over the counter ones aren't as effective for eczema in your hands; you might need stronger prescription strength. Also be gentle with your skin; don't expose it to a lot of water; don't wash too often as that can dry the skin and when you do need to wash use a gentle cleanser not antibacterial soaps which can be harsh. ...Read more

Doc for two weeks the skin of my finger tips has been peeling off. I don't use any chemicals. Wash my hands when I eat work washroom, etc.
2-3 days after I am cured from a cold my the skin on my fingers starts to peel off, the only medication that I take is Tylenol (acetaminophen) or panadole as my cold is not that bad this has been going on for years doctors say it's eczema?
May be virus related: Skin peeling is a common symptom after certain viral infections. Eczema has specific physical features like raised bumps, dry skin and itchyness etc. The latter should be under control with topic steriods. The skin on my fingers suddenly started flaking and nothing is helping. So, my fingernas are do brittle they are peeling also. What is causing this?
Nutritional stuff?: Ask your doctor, but it might be nutritional deficiences or an acid/alkaline imbalance. I personally had similar finger symptoms that responded well to rinsing with diluted plain white vinegar. Flaking returned daily and went away with another rinse. Normal: This is fairly normal. The skin that is up against the nail easily damaged and constantly changing & experience regrowth as the nail grows. Also, we use the tips of the fingers so much that the tissues around the nails undergo a lot of stress and minor trauma. See MD: See your dermatologist or urgent care physician. Sometimes contact dermatitis involved with contact with allergens such as nickel can cause peeling skin, as can hand eczema, vitamin deficiencies, and other skin conditions.
