Whenver I blow my nose there's droplets of blood and bloody mucus in the tissue. Is this normal? Could it be a sign of infection or cancer?

Probably not: Especially in dry winter air, some blood when you blow your nose can be normal. If this is unusual for you, and if you have other symptoms (congestion, fatigue, drainage, etc.), it could be a symptom of sinus infection. Be careful not to clean the nose too aggressively as this can actually cause trauma making the nose worse. I like gentle cleaning and the use of an antibiotic ointment like bactroban (mupirocin) or bacitracin. Do not use an ointment with neomycin as this can cause bad skin reactions. ...Read more

Can sinusitis cause no mucus to come out of the nose? will this excess mucus cause infections if spread to other parts of body?

Possible: Although acute sinusitis is often associated with a thick discolored nasal discharge, one may have sinusitis without any discharge at all. The mucus is mostly the body's way to fight against the infection and thus in the case of sinusitis would not spread to other parts of the body. One may need an antibiotic if the problem persists for more than a week or gets worse. ...Read more
