I am wondering if medical marijuana would be a good idea. I have very bad anxiety and I am on medication for it but it doesn't seem to really help?
I was a heavy smoker for 3 years or so..Mixing tobacco with marijuana. Have recently quit but spit up a lot of tar. Is this a good sign or bad one?
Tar: cleaning out: It is a good sign. It is often difficult for actively smoking humans to clean up or clear out their lungs. It surprises some that in the early months after quitting smoking they cough more and often have more productive junk when they cough. But, as your lungs clear out this tar and other waste products you will get to a healthier ability to breath and the lungs can begin to heal. ...Read more
Marijuana and health: I would take the morality out of the question or the 'good' versus 'bad' with marijuana use. But, the direct effect of cannabis on the human tissue is not unhealthy in and of itself. Cannabis can be a good appetite stimulant, an anti-inflammatory, and anxiolytic. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

Rattlesnakes: Although I love to recommend natural products whenever likely to be helpful or appropriate, I must also say: just because something is natural does not necessarily make it healthy. Tobacco is just as naturally-sourced as marijuana, yet its dangers are finally now widely known. Poison ivy is natural. So are rattlesnakes. Marijuana has addiction potential and can harm vulnerable individuals. ...Read more
I have a good friend who smokes synthetic marijuana everyday. Can synthetic marijuana be addicting? He said he feels like it is sometimes.
Sort of: One of the defining characteristics of addictive substances is they promote tolerance and they cause a withdrawal syndrome. THC and Psychosis: If you have a personal or family history of psychosis then smoking thc is contraindicated. Thc can cause social anxiety and certainly it can worsen it as well. Thc causes a fixation of the personality at the age that you were at when you started using it. This explains the often adolescent like behavior of adults who indulge frequently in thc. It can also impair your ability to think rationally. I have seen several extreme cases of depersonalization from smoking up to 15 joints a day for 13 years. This occurred in two best friends. ...Read more
