The Dangers Of Pueraria Mirifica
Save your money.: There is no evidence from well-designed studies that it has any benefit. Also, because of the plant estrogens in it, there are risks associated with those generally, including blood clots. See http://www. Drugs. Com/npp/pueraria. Html ...Read more
I am taking sam-e for my mood. At the same time I want to take pueraria mirifica 500mg from thailand. Any bad interactions among the two?
None known: Same is actually produced by our bodies so everyone who has ever taken puereia mirifica has had same on board as well. There are no known interactions or reason to suspect there would be. ...Read more
Is it okay to start Pueraria Mirifica 500mg, right after, or day after stopping Megace (megestrol) Es? Any concerns?
Depends: Since pueraria migifica is a phytoestrogen (a plant derived estrogen like compound), it may be contraindicated altogether and risky if the megace (megestrol) has been used for certain conditions. Ask your doctor if estrogen is safe for you and if not you should avoid the pueraria. Hope this helps. ...Read more
Not relevant: If you have a thyroid issue you will benefit from professional attention to it. But that has no bearing on the use of estrogen from any source. You neglected to reveal the reason for this experiment. If you think you might benefit from estrogen you are foolish to do it without professional supervision. Also this herbal estrogen is less safe and less reliable than prescription estrogen. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
No better, why?: No, it won't help you at all, just wastes your money. A few women with pcos become pregnant, but generally only after significant weight loss. Therapy such as metformin has a much higher chance of normal periods (in approx. 60% of cases) and a safe successful pregnancy, if desired. Don't get medical information from friends, tv or the internet. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My sister has Atopic Dermititis. Her skin is scarred all over. What are some things to have in mind to help stop the itch? Can Pueraria Mirifica help?
SEE A DERMATOLOGIST!: Soak in a shower or bath. Avoid caustic soaps (Ivory). Avoid antibacterial soaps. Immediately after using your towel, rub in a cream for dry skin. I favor those with ceramides such as Eucerin Eczema Care cream. Get a prescription cortisone. Triamcinolone cream. 1% comes in a 1# jar. For the eyelids use tacrolimus ointment. 1% Forget the herb from the jungle in SE Asia. It is a waste of money. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can the prolonged use of Pueraria Mirifica 500mg cause birth defects if in the future I decide to have children, even if I have stopped it?
I've taken pueraria mirifica capsule few months ago, I realise that my period doesn't come for a month so I decided to stop taking it. Side effect?
Can't tell for sure: Pregnancy is the most common cause of a missed period. If not pregnant, other causes of a late or missed period include: excessive weight loss or weight gain, increased exercising, emotional stress, having an illness, traveling, medicines (especially birth control pills), hormonal disorders, etc… a visit to one’s ob-gyn doctor is a good idea if symptoms are persistent, recurring, or worrisome. ...Read more
I am on birth control pulls and I wanted to start taking pueraria mirifica. Will the pueraria mirifica interfere with the effectiveness of the pill?
Why?: No one can tell you the answer because, in the case of an unregulated substance like this, no one can even tell you what is in the bottle or that the reported dose is correct. There is no scientific evidence that this supplement has any medical benefit at all, so why chance it? ...Read more

I am 16 yo and have a regular period and no medical issues. I want to take pueraria mirifica. Would this effect my hormones in a negative way?
Why?: Pueraria mirifica is an herb indigenous to thailand. It contains phytoestrogens that can supposedly relieve signs of estrogen deficiency in post-menopausal women. Some call it a "fountain of youth" herb for aging women. Since at 16 you already have the youth these older women long for, I'm wondering why you want to take it? Why not let your natural hormone balance be as it is, without this herb? ...Read more
I was going to take Pueraria Mirifica for my PCOS, but I read that it can't be taken by "women with cystic growths of the ovary". Is it not safe?
It is unsafe for you: It has estrogenic compounds in it and it is taken by women who want to enlarge their breasts. But estrogens also effect other tissues in your body and particular your ovaries and vagina. You are playing with fire here and you may get severely burned. Beware. Don't fall for the line that if it's natural it has to be good. Snakes are natural but some of them can poison you with just one bite. ...Read more
In amounts found...: ...naturally in food, fenugreek is safe, but in amounts found in supplements, it may be unsafe whether you're on BCP's or not. I don't recommend it. Pueraria has phytoestrogens, plant chemical with estrogen-like effects. It might be helpful for women w/ estrogen deficiency. But for you, already on an estrogen-containing contraceptive, I don't recommend it. Hope this helps. Dr. Anne ...Read more
