Ask your surgeon: It is probably ok to eat pickles 2 weeks prior to your bypass. However, every surgeon has their own protocol and sometimes can be very particular about it. Diet wrong term!: You mean life-style change. For people with an apple build, nothing beats a low-carb/ low-glycemic index diet. For pears, low calorie, gih fiber diets are thec best. For quick weight loss, low calorie will produce short term results, but with hypocaloric weight loss, you lose one pound of muscle per three pounds of fat. It becomes harder to get back the muscle and keep of the fat. ...Read more

Female 76 since having stroke 1 yr ago i take clopidogrel and Ramipril 5mg i eat 3 bananas a day As Ramipril is Ace inhibiter for treatment of Blood Pressure should i avoid foods high in pottasium including bananas or eat these types in moderation?
Keep it simple: If your BP is well controlled with an ACE inhibitor, you do not need to worry about your Potassium(K)level. It is only diuretics that lower the Potassium. Even under that circumstance, you do not need to eat 3 bananas a day. One per day is more than enough. if you have concerns about your K level, get a blood test to measure your K level once yearly. ...Read more
Curious: I drink a med ice latte, 1 pump of syrup, no whip from coffee chain. No health issue, normal weight. Can water flush the sugar intake after?
Not really: Water will not have an affect on the sugar you've consumed or how it is metabolized by your body. Your body will still process the sugar as it would without any additional water consumed, and it will use the energy (the calories) from the sugar. Despite that, though, it is a good idea to drink water in addition to lattes or other sweetened beverages! ...Read more

Is it fine to add fish in the daily meals after Vp shunt surgery or should it be a strict vegan diet? Patient is also on chemo for breast cancer
Whoa: Whoever has told you that a person who has had a ventriculoperitoneal shunt needs to eat a vegan diet was simply lying to you. The decision to become a vegan is a moral choice, not a medical one, and a vegan who does not know EXACTLY what they are doing will ruin his/her health. If a health care provider has urged a chemotherapy patient to "go vegan" as Rx, report it to the licensing board. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
