Pediatrician: Your pediatrician should be able to begin proper evaluation. The specialist would be a neurologist.
It is a body tissue that has the ability to contract. It shortens and generates force. It relaxes and returns to its original length. Would a child show signs of muscular dystrophy by 4? My son has low muscle tone and can tire quicker than brothers but he can jump, ride bike, etc
Many types: There are many different types of muscular dystrophy, some of which do not show symptoms until even adulthood. If you have concerns about your child's muscle functions, best to go to a large pediatric academic center that has a muscular dystrophy clinic. There you will find the various experts who can determine if there even is a problem, and it so, what it is. Best to use experts here!
Depends: Unless you have an underlying neurologic disorder, you do not have hypotonia.

My bubs 8 months old today I was told he has very low muscle tone in his back core by the pediatrtion dr he needs physio. What ex can I doto help till?
See a neurologist: It is very important that your child be properly diagnosed first. Ask for referral to see a pediatric neurologist.
Muscle building: Muscles are meant to be used. If u do not use them they get weak. The more u use the better tone they have. It is not hard to get into shape. SURE If u have the will u will be able to do it. Just get into regular exercise routine with low weights. If u just want to tone up u should do more reps with low weights. Talk to a trainer at a gym- they offer free counseling for 1 or 2 session at some gyms
Not uncommon: Muscle tone is an important indicator of a baby's development. It can suggest some developmental problems if the tone is low (or floppy). But, it's important to understand that babies all develop differently and not necessarily within the pre-conceived parameters. If tone is a concern, be sure and follow up regularly with your physician for checkups to be sure than any problems are detected.
Anything you can: You can and should do all that is physically possible to maintain strength and flexibility. I encourage my patients to do whatever resistance training they can. This depends upon how significant the level of CP is. Make sure you work with someone who can create a safe program for you, because you don't want to put yourself in a position where you could get hurt.
My 9 month old baby has very low muscle tone in his back he still dose not sit up it's not a neurology problem ped has sent him to physio im worried?
Motor milestones: It seems like his milestones are delayed certainly related to poor muscle tone. The main question is if there are other delays as well? Would consilt with a pediatric neurologist as well and recommend testing for some rare inborn errors of metabolism.See 1 more doctor answer
Need in person visit: You need to be seen in person by a physiatrist or a neurologistSee 1 more doctor answer

My 4 month baby is using levothyroxin (25mcg), he is little floppy. Does hypothyroid is the reason of low muscle tone? What can be other concerns of?
It might be: Check the thyroid function tests at your pediatrician office. He might need to adjust the dose of the mediation. Best!
My son had genetic test sent to Harvard For hgb disorder. He also has low muscle tone. Would the genetic testing pick up muscular dystrophy too?
Generally not: That would be like doing a compression test on a car engine and finding a brake problem. You only find (or not) what you're looking for. And muscular dystrophy isn't just a matter of muscle tone. You need to read up on a disease or condition before you start making these transcontinental jumps to conclusions.
At what age is muscular dystrophy diagnosed? My 4 yo old has low muscle tone in legs and out toes but rides a bike, jumps, runs. Tires easy at times.
See doc: There are several other disorders affecting muscles and nerves besides muscular dystrophy. See your pediatrician and discuss possible testing that may be done and follow any referrals that the testing then indicates.
