Best Lotions Or Creams For Dry, Aged Skin
Is there a cream or lotion that will get rid of first degree burn discoloration on skin (back of legs)?
Depends if it's hype: hyperpigmentation (dark color) or depigmented (white) and all the melanin is gone. If post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation PIH, you can use hydroquinone very lightly & only on the discolored part, as it's a strong bleaching agent. Azelaic acid is a milder version. You can't expose it to UV light at all. It's all prescription only from a dr. If depigmented, can't use this. Time can also decrease PIH. ...Read more
My 1 month old baby's skin is really dry on the face and neck. He has some little red bump too. What is the best brand of lotion or cream for him?
Patience: The baby acne is a common event that reflects hormones transferred during the pregnancy. While the baby is floating in moisture, the skin is will not respond, but within weeks of birth they break out for many weeks before the hormone levels begin to drop & the acne disappears. Keeping the skin clean & avoiding irritating soaps helps. Occasional use of a 1/2% hc once daily can calm some lesions. ...Read more

Exfoliant: If your skin is dull and dry, an exfoliation is in order. You can do a chemical exfoliant like a glycolic acid cream or a chemical peel or you can do a physical exfoliant like a microderm abrasion. This should help with pigmentation and lines as well, though if you really want good improvement in those you may want to consider a fractional laser. Continue your SPF. I'm not familiar with alinin ...Read more
There's no "best": There's no "best" per se. We recommend that men, and everyone, wear sunscreen with at least spf 20, 3 times a day and incorporate a serum with vitamin c (l-ascorbic acid) between 10% and 20%. Vitamin c is a strong anti-oxidant that may help skin cells regenerate quicker. Our favorite is the obagi c- serum line. ...Read more

If not better quickly, consult your local dermatologist who will be able to evaluate you and determine the diagnosis, and who might prescribe some topical steroid creams, anti-itch pills, or other therapy that will improve you more quickly. ...Read more
I have pea-sized, extremely itchy bumps that started on the soles of my feet a couple of days ago, and seem to be spreading to my calves. On my feet they seem to be grouped up, but not on my legs. My skin is dry but lotion doesn't seem to help.
Fungus vs contact: You may have a contact allergy or spreading of the athlete's foot fungus. It is hard to tell for sure based on your description. May try 1% hydrocortisone cream for a few days to see if this helps. If it is from a contact allergy, avoidance of the allergen is the only way to stop it. See your doctor if the problem continues. ...Read more

I have very dry and cracked feet. Tried lotions and creams. Patches of skin are coming off making it painful to walk. Any suggestions?
Lotion often: This is very common. Callusing is a build up of dead skin. As the skin dries out, it shrinks. The tension on the skin, as it shrinks, causes the skin to split. This can split into live skin causing pain and at times, bleeding. Using a foot cream with urea can be quite helpful. The higher the urea content, the better. We use 40-50% urea in a cream. If not severe, use a good lotion daily. Dr l. ...Read more

How long did you use the athlete's foot cream? It can take a few weeks of using it twice a day for you to notice an improvement. Have you tried changing your soap? It may be extremely dry, which is why the vaseline is working. You can try a heavy cream (in a jar) like eucerin or aquaphor. If the problem persists you should see your doctor for an evaluation and treatment.
I hope you are better soon. ...Read more
