Derealization is a: sense of detachment, unreality, and altered relation to the outside world. It is a disorder when permanent and causing distress. Evaluation must rule out medical/psychiatric issues. SSRIs, clomipramine, hypnosis may help. CBT helps to confront distorted thoughts/challenge feelings of unreality. Good start: Derealization like many symptoms of anxiety has a difficult to predict couse .Treatment goals should be about managing it as it occurs and not get get stuck in a complete cure. Sometimes i feel like i'm in a movie and nothing's real. I've been diagnosed with derealization, but i feel like there's more to it. What could it be?
