Daughter is 13. Had blood test two weeks ago. Flew back from spring break Sat. Arm swelling and a lot of pain started yesterday.
See a doctor!: Travelling by plane increases risk for blood clots, usually in the legs. However, it's possible your daughter developed one in her arm. Second, if the painful arm is the same arm where she had a blood draw, she could have an infection. Third, what happened during Spring Break? You may never know, but experiments (injection drugs) and accidents (falls) occur. You care, so get her in ASAP! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I have upper arm swelling between my shoulder and elbow. I have had several blood tests, 3 mri's (brain, throat, cervical spine) and ultrasound of my arm for blood clot, chest X-ray and everything is normal. Any thoughts?
44 year-old female with a history of DVT and stroke; on Warfarin daily now with right leg swelling and bilateral leg pain.....?
Need good ultrasound study and a cardiac echo: Was there a reason found for the stroke? A clot in the leg may travel to the lung, but should not normally be able to get to the brain. The most likely reason it did is a defect in the heart. An echocardiogram will help sort the heart out, and can guide a repair. A good ultrasound of the legs is necessary to see if there is a recurrent clot. If not, another consideration is Post-Thrombotic Syndrome - failure o the valves in the leg veins from scarring after DVT. Patients with DVT need to wear compression hose daily for at least 2 yrs after DVT to minimize the risk of PTS. ...Read moreSee 10 more doctor answers
