Dr I m 22 have a right testis pain. Ultrasound showed microlithasis and early varicocele on left testis 3mm & on valsalva 3.3mm. Plz clearify im worried?

See answer: Testicular microlithiasis not an uncommon incidental finding on ultrasound. Weak association with development of testicular cancer. No rx recommended: only regular self-exam for testicular mass. Varicoceles present in 15-20% of males. Occasional cause of infertility. Also, no rx needed if no fertility issues. Neither of the above problems is usually associated with pain. If bothersome, see urology. ...Read more

Sonogram (Definition)

An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more

How is undescended testis diagnosed on ultrasound?

How is undescended testis diagnosed on ultrasound?

See below: Undescended testis is usually diagnosed by physical examination. Ultrasound is used if no testicle can be palpated on either or both sides. Inguinal and abdominal/pelvic us can demonstrate testes in the inguinal canal and most intra-abdominal undescended testes. This helps in management and choice of surgical approach. I perform laparoscopy to find possible intra-abdominal udts if not found by us. ...Read more

Sir I have a pain in my right testis. The ultrasound report showed me I had a microcalcafication please help me?

Talk to your doctor: It seems you are already being followed by md as ultrasound was requested. The pain gave me the thought of epididymitis and if chronic can cause calcification. There are people who have micro calcification in the testis with different implication. I am not sure of the ultrasound report, so talk to your doctor and have it explained. Good luck. ...Read more

I had an ultrasound on my testis that found Epididymal calcification. Do these cause symptoms and should I be worried?

You tell us: You did not include any medical or symptom history to give us anything to comment on. Why did you have an ultrasound of your testes or scrotum? Calcifications in and of themselves here just represent a previous injury and scarring. ...Read more

Sir my right testis pains. Ultrasound showed testicular microlithasis please describe about it. My doctor says don't worry. What is its longterm effect?

See answer: Testicular microlithiasis is an infrequent but well recognized condition, which is usually incidentally identified on testicular ultrasound scan. Interest in testicular microlithiasis has increased over past few years, owing to an observed association with testicular germ cell tumor. Regular testis self-exam and/or periodic ultrasound is all that is recommended. Pain is likely unrelated to this. ...Read more

Sir my right testis pains. Ultrasound showed microcalcification. Doctor said I had varicolcele. Whereas I m taking antiobiotic and cobal1500mcg. Plz help!

Epididymitis?: You've written several times, once to ask about masturbation, once saying you have prostatitis, and now saying you have a varcicocele. Neither varcicocele nor prostatitis should cause testicular pain. But you didn't say what the urine tests showed or what antibiotic you're on. Cobal is a vitamin that will not treat testicular pain. It's hard to know how to help you. ...Read more

Do cold sitz bath affect testes my right testis pains. Ultrasound showed microcalcification whereas I m taking antiobiotic please help me...

Brrrrr: The scrotal dartos muscle contracts in response to cold, pushing the testes closer to the warm body. Testis microcalcifications are likely not significant. We used to make a bigger deal of them, but research has shown this was probably overblown. You'll feel better when you get out of the cold water. ...Read more

Doctor my right testis pains while sitting a lot &while walking. Ultrasound showed microlithasis. Early varicocele found in left testis. Plz help me!

Urologic consult: Testicular microlithiasis is a controversial entity which may increase risk of getting testicular cancer. Microlithiasis alone doesn't cause scrotal pain. Varicoceles may cause pain but yours is left sided and your pain is on the right. Need to make sure there is no referred pain (such as from a kidney stone). Bottom line, a urologist should be involved. ...Read more

Retractile? Ectopic? Ultrasound when 3 days old both testis in scrotum. 4 months both in groin. At 5 months left almost abdominal, right almost perineal

Variable position: The testes can be voluntarily retracted into the abdomen at a young age. Most men lose this ability as they get older. If it was certain that the testes were in the scrotum on an earlier study then this doesn't represent "undescended testes". If you are concerned, the test can be repeated.

Young boys tend to retract testes when they are examine which could lead to misdiagnosis. ...Read more
