An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more
Shadow showing on ultrasound of pancreas, all p.enyzme levels normal. liver function normal. blood results normal only high cholesterol. cyst?

Dipstick hematuria, normal RBC under micro analysis. Negative cytology and negative Renal and Bladder ultrasound. I am still worried.
Signs of preg and blood work, shows no menopause etc, pituitary mri shows normal, upper lower ultra sounds and cat scan show normal neg preg test ???
Nonspecific symptoms: Many pregnancy symptoms are nonspecific. They can be present in many conditions. The evaluation you describe is extensive, and since it's been negative, should be reassuring. At this point usually the best approach is to follow the symptoms over time to see if anything new appears down the road. Testing can't always explain the cause of symptoms, but can usually rule out the serious stuff. ...Read more
My wife has had the following tests done for infertility: hsg, day 3 ovarian reserve testing, pelvic and transvaginal ultrasounds, pap smears. All test results were normal. My semen analysis results were normal. Will additional tests need to be done if
Yes: She will need to see what her amh level is for another test of ovarian reserve. She can do ovulation predictor kits to see if she ovulated. A Progesterone level 7 days after ovulation will help as well. She can get a TSH and prolactin level as well. Then you both can have a consult with her md about options. ...Read more
Liver ALT test almost always on high end of normal reference range. Ct scan, ultrasound, hep test, ana, spep negative. Gastro said not to worry. Sometimes ALT is elevated over a few pts. More test?
Trace hematuria, and proteinuria on some ua dipstick. Blood work shows normal kidney function. Ct w/contrast, xray kub, and us all normal. Ideas?
Benign glomerular dz: Hematuria and proteinuria suggests a glomerular cause ( kidney filter) since the urologic studies are negative. Kidney biopsy would be diagnostic but makes no sense since risk of progressive renal failure is very low as long as the urine protein is less than 500 mg a day. Diagnosis would include IgA nephropathy, thin basement membrane disease among others. As long as normal function u r ok. ...Read more
Recently blood test shows increased liver function, ultrasound showed pancreatic and liver cysts, what could this mean?
Cysts: Pancreatic cysts are of many types, some benign some with malignant potential. Liver cysts are less well understood. Increased lfts mean something--medication, alcohol, internal liver disorders--is causing liver dysfunction. Ultrasound is just a screening step for more tests, including ct, nuclear med, and other blood studies. Any cyst(s) in either organ may require a biopsy. ...Read more
Thick blood , high inflammation levels abnormal liver function in all 3 blood tests, test back pos for blood clot on lung after dye test, back neg?
This is serious: I trust the dye test was a pulmonary angiogram that demonstrated a pulmonary thromboembolus, and it has also been determined that you have hypercoagulable blood. This is a major problem that will require work with your primary care physician and probably long-term medical management -- more than healthtap can do. Hope you do not smoke. The "inflammation" & liver labs need to be addressed in time. ...Read more
My urine test results shows presence of erythrocytes (4+) and leukocytes (3+). What could it mean?
Trace hematuria, and proteinuria on some ua. Blood work shows normal kidney function. Ct w/contrast, xray kub, and us all normal. Ideas?
I bet you're fine: I don't believe in even working up trace proteinuria. Even visible hematuria with otherwise normal labs and imaging isn't a cause for alarm; one person in maybe 100 has thin-gbm non-disease and except for slightly poorer hearing than the next person, these folks are otherwise normal. ...Read more

My ultrasound showed 'hererogenous echgenicity of liver parenchma', LFT blood test was apparently normal. CBT is dilated 9cms.
On a CT scan it showed moderate cortical atrophy of my kidneys, positive ANA test, nephrologist said the Sono was ok. Should I have further testing?
Is nephrologist good: If the nephrologist is good to go with the results of the tests and what needs to be done then, I would say follow his/her lead. My guess is you've done plenty of tests....time to let your doctors analyze all the tests and come up with a good plan. ...Read more
My doctor ordered a urine cytology test due to hematuria. He ordered it done on 24 hr urine sample. Lab says not 24hr test. Who's right?
Endometrium present 18 days on period negative pregnancy test results via blood and urine tests. Possible causes?
Urinalysis shows small blood in urine, but no RBC. Isn't that the same thing? Further testing? CT scan of abdomen/pelvis was normal & CBC
Pressure/pain in bladder, urination burns. Urine test was neg, blood work showed wbc high. Had ultrasound and cat scan which were both good.
Am a 24yr old female, had blood in mucus this morning. ECG, Chest CT, urine test results look normal. waiting for blood test results Whats wrong?
Bloody mucus: You don't say where the mucus is coming from. If you're coughing it up which is suggested from your chest CT test notation, you need to be sure you follow up. There are lots of places in the respiratory tract it could be coming from. ...Read more
