Test For St Ds In Women
Would a urine PCR test is sufficient for detection of chlamydia trachomatis for women or have a chance for false negative result?
Sampling of trich: Well trich can be 'tricky' if I can make such a pun. The issue could be with the quality of the testing... so if your male partner is testing negative, it might be that either a) he didn't have it or b) the sample collected was not sufficient. It could also be that in your case c) perhaps it wasn't trich. I've seen that on rare occasions. Best thing to do is talk to your doc- maybe a couples visit ...Read more

More women diagnosed: Women 24 and younger, as well as women with risk factors for a sexually transmitted infection (such as new/multiple sexual partners, unprotected sex) should be routinely screened for chlamydia infection. There is no screening recommendation for men. Because of this routine screening of women, more women are diagnosed with chlamydia infection than men. This may not reflect the true incidence rates. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yes, very common: This is very common. The available tests are not designed for testing men, only women. Your partner still needs treatment for trich to prevent you from being reinfected. You both also should be tested for gonorrhe and chlamydia, which are more common in people with trichomoniasis. Good luck! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

If my uti urine test came out negative. Is it possible to test positive for a uti culture test? Also can doctors see stds or stis in this culture test
Here are some...: Urinalysis (under microscope) of properly collected fresh urine should give an fair accurate indication for bacterial UTI or not, but ultimate confirmation is urine culture with properly collected urine. And either one should correlate with clinical picture and suspicion. But, testing for STD/STI like chlamydia & gono should be done with the first (dirty) part of urine, differing from testing UTI. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can just a blood test detect all untreatable std's in women?I don't want my spouse's hymen torn by pap-smear like tests by inserting things into her v
Bad information: Congratulations on your impending marriage. And i'm sorry -- somebody has given you very bad information. Prior to marriage, a blood test for syphilis is all that we need. Nobody's going to culture her cervix without symptoms. This pathologist doesn't think a woman needs a pap smear until she becomes sexually active -- it's not the guideline but it makes sense. And what std is untreatable? ...Read more

I was tested via blood test for STDs and was told I tested positive for herpes exposure and that I have the antibodies in my blood but that I don t have herpes I am so confused do I have herpes ?
Correlate: A pathologist's perspective: herpes simplex 1 generally affects the lips and mouth and most people are positive, simplex 2 the genitals, there's variability. The antibody tests are famously unreliable and often mistake one for the other. If you are not symptomatic, consider ignoring these results unless your physician tells you otherwise. ...Read more

Here are some...: Without detailed history stressing the onset, degree, duration, interval, progression, evolution, and the sequence of events on all related symptoms, it is hard to tell if testicular pain is related to STD or just the disorders of local muscles, joints, or nerves. Sex with female with expired condom did not break sex wasnt for long did water test no holes major risk of std?
You were protected: Welcome to HealthTap. Thanks for your question. The expiration date indicates when the chance of breakage might increase. And it's only how long the manufacturer tested for, not how long it actually might last. If it doesn't break, protection is complete. The idea of microscopic leaks or pores in latex that can let infection pass through is an urban myth. The "water test" is meaningless. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Bacterial vaginosis?: The main cause of strong and/or fishy vaginal odor is bacterial vaginosis, caused by overgrowth of mostly normal bacteria. STDs are more common in women with BV, so it's good to know those tests were negative. However, trichomonais (another STD) also causes fishy odor and is easy to miss on routine testing. Return to your doctor; you need an antibiotic prescription, probably metronidazole. ...Read more
How long should I wait to get a HIV and STD test? I only had vaginal sex with a women for my first time ever.
Usually 2-3 days: The standard test for chlamydia generally is positive within 2-3 days of catching the infection, and always within a week. Same for gonorrhea, usually tested automatically at the same time. But make sure the lab is doing the test on urine or a swab from the urethra (in men) or vagina (in women). Blood testing doesn't accurately diagnose chlamydia or gonorrhea. ...Read more
My wife and i (both women) are experiencing pain similar to a uti, though she saw a dr. Negative test. No sex in months (pregnancy). No stds. Idea?
Bladder irritants: If neither of you have a positive urinalysis and your wife had a "negative test", there could be a dietary irritant to the bladder at fault. If you both ingested the same foods recently, the answer may lie in your diet. You can find a list on the internet. Common foods are acidic foods such as tomatoes, citrus, cranberries, coffee, chocolate, tea, artificial sweeteners, spicy foods. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
