Hello, I am struggling to get motivated to add simple exercise. I take heart medications, and have issues with my heart racing if I miss medication or don't stay hydrated. What is the easiest way to get started? I have no restrictions from my cardiolo
Exercise: If you don't have any problems with your joints, I would recommend a low impact workout like elliptical, stationary bike or walking. I would do that for about 20 minutes and then have a trainer show you how to set up a circuit type of workout. By strengthening muscles, you will burn fat. Plus it is totally fun. WATER!!!: Nothing beats good old water for hydration. Sports drinks don't hydrate any better, though you might drink more of them because of the sweetness- but the sugar is not good for you. If sweating a lot, sports drinks do have electrolytes, but you can get those from having salt and fruits. Some special forms of water like "microwater" are thought to be more hydrating than others. Many Tricks: Proper bathing routine (short 5 min shower, luke warm), immediately moisturize with a thick cream (no lotions) within 3 min after exiting the shower. Reapply moisturizer at one other time during the day to trouble areas. Use your judgement: Function of the colon is to absorb water from so that the liquid form of stool become more solid. Nutrients are absorbed by the small bowel. If you have diarrhea and fluid loss, you will need to increase fluid intake. Don't force yourself to drink too much free water. Unlikely: If you have a normal gastrointestinal system, it would take a massive volume of water over time to cause diarrhea. If you have a GI virus, trying to hydrate can cause diarrhea to worsen and you may need IV fluids then.
