Can tendonitis/tendonosis cause fingers to feel stiff? Been checked for RA and that's clear.

Can tendonitis/tendonosis cause fingers to feel stiff? Been checked for RA and that's clear.

Unlikely: A tendonitis of the hand would cause pain, swelling and tenderness along the flexor tendon of usually one finger. A stenosing tenosynovitis would cause a trigger finger. Isolated stiffness would not be a symptom. Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, which usually causes numbness and tingling in the hand, can occasionally present itself just with numbness in the thumb and index finger. ...Read more

Pain in muscle of thumb, especially when gripping or if I press on it. No tingling or pain in other fingers. Is this tendonitis?

Pain in muscle of thumb, especially when gripping or if I press on it. No tingling or pain in other fingers. Is this tendonitis?

Possible: This sounds more like a contusion than tendonitis, but it would be possible to have a tendonitis of a flexor tendon. It would be reasonable to treat with ice/heat as well as NSAIDs (i.e. Advil, (ibuprofen) Aleve), and then see an orthopedist for further evaluation if symptoms persist or worsen. ...Read more

Diagnosed with elbow tendonitis for two months. Experiencing tricep spasms and odd finger tip sensation. Is this more serious form or limited movement?

Possibly: There are multiple nerves that pass through the elbow to the hand and they can become involved in the process. For example, golfer elbow is an inflammatory condition of the tendons and ligaments on the inside of the elbow; the ulnar nerve also is near that area and when this gets involved one can get numbness running into the fourth and fifth fingers. ...Read more

I was prescribed prednisone 40mg daily for trigger finger/tendinitis. Is it safe?
