Why do my pinkie and index finger occasionally have brief amounts of pain? Is it tendonitis?

Why do my pinkie and index finger occasionally have brief amounts of pain? Is it tendonitis?

One condition that: Can show up as pain between fingers in the web is tendonitis or trigger digit of either finger on the palm side in the flexor tendon. Pain can seem to be in the web but actually the palm may be tender near the finger palm crease. And just near it in the palm under knuckle this is not often written about but its is something I've observed many times clinically. / check your palm to see if so.

What to do if I have pinkie and index finger occasionally have brief amounts of pain -tendinitis?

What to do if I have pinkie and index finger occasionally have brief amounts of pain -tendinitis?

Varies: If it is not very much of a problem, you may just leave it go or try an antiinflammatory. If it gets worse, consider being seen. It is a fairly uncommon place to have a tendinitis. One of the more common causes is called cubital tunnel syndrome, which is a pinching of the ulnar nerve at the elbow and can cause pain or numbness in the fourth and fifth fingers.

The palm area below my index fingers on both hands is slightly swollen and my fingers are stiff. Could this be finger tendonitis from overuse?

The palm area below my index fingers on both hands is slightly swollen and my fingers are stiff. Could this be finger tendonitis from overuse?

See below:: Possibly yes, but it happening on both sides at the same time is uncommon. It could be a number of other things in a 35 yo female, like rheumatoid. Common things like a ganglion cysts, trigger fingers etc, would be more likely cause of your problem. Consulting your ortho or hand surgeon would be beneficial for you.

Rest: Generally resting the hand, warm soaks or compresses, splinting and over the counter meds like Aspirin or advil (ibuprofen) if tolerated.

Can tendonitis/tendonosis cause fingers to feel stiff? Been checked for RA and that's clear.

Can tendonitis/tendonosis cause fingers to feel stiff? Been checked for RA and that's clear.

Unlikely: A tendonitis of the hand would cause pain, swelling and tenderness along the flexor tendon of usually one finger. A stenosing tenosynovitis would cause a trigger finger. Isolated stiffness as a symptoms would not be a symptom. Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, which usually causes numbness and tingling in the hand, can occasionally present itself just with numbness in the thumb and index finger.

Can u tell me whether or not rotator cuff pain runs down your arm and into your fingers or is that tendonitis?

Can u tell me whether or not rotator cuff pain runs down your arm and into your fingers or is that tendonitis?

Possible neither: The pain you describe would be unusual for either condition. It is more likely a result of nerve compression, often originating in the neck.

Pain in muscle of thumb, especially when gripping or if I press on it. No tingling or pain in other fingers. Is this tendonitis?

Pain in muscle of thumb, especially when gripping or if I press on it. No tingling or pain in other fingers. Is this tendonitis?

Possible: This sounds more like a contusion than tendonitis, but it would be possible to have a tendonitis of a flexor tendon. It would be reasonable to treat with ice/heat as well as NSAIDs (i.e. Advil, (ibuprofen) Aleve), and then see an orthopedist for further evaluation if symptoms persist or worsen.

Saw my dr. Yesterday & she said I have tendonitis in one finger & the side of my hand. She prescribed cortisone cream, (very strong) will this work?

Saw my dr. Yesterday & she said I have tendonitis in one finger & the side of my hand. She prescribed cortisone cream, (very strong) will this work?

Doubtful: Steroid creams applied to the skin will not penetrate to the level of the tendons and therefore will most likely not be successful in treating your problem.

Can't bend my fingers, is it possible to get wrist tendonitis from a whiplash injury even though I didn't hit my wrist on anything at all in the accident?

Can't bend my fingers, is it possible to get wrist tendonitis from a whiplash injury even though I didn't hit my wrist on anything at all in the accident?

No: Whiplash would be pain in the neck due to spasm in the neck muscles. While this makes you stiff, you should still have use of your fingers. You should probably see your doctor to make sure nothing serious is going on and get treatment.

Pain in middle of elbow when pulling or hanging...Tendonitis? Pain in elbow also when doing hand extension stretches with fingers facing down.

Pain in middle of elbow when pulling or hanging...Tendonitis? Pain in elbow also when doing hand extension stretches with fingers facing down.

Tennis elbow likely: If the out prominence of your elbow aches just off the front edge, then lateral epicondylitis is most likely. Supportive care: rest, ice, compression and nsaids usually allow symptoms to fade away over time. Avoid provocative activities until improved.

I'm having numbness and tingling in my hand and pinky and ring finger. I was told its tendonitis but nothibg is helping could I be diabetic?

Ulnar nerve: This sounds like an ulnar entrapment. Diabetics could get this numbness too. An electromyogram can solve this puzzle. Please see a neurologist.

Joint pain/aches, tendonitis, mouth ulcers, hair loss, fatigue, swollen fingers, finger rash in summer. Neg ANA slightly elevated RF. Very frustrating?

Understanding: These symptoms certainly seen in many rheumatic disease with lupus on the list. Many immune symptoms are frustrating but also can be treated. I certainly rec seeing a rheumatologist for a full evaluation and treatment if you have not gone yet. Please try to have patience since medications may take a few weeks to a couple months to be quite helpful but you will feel better.

I have rotator cuff tendinitis. About a month ago I started going numb from my shoulder to my elbow & now from my elbow to my fingers are tingling & numbing when I try to level my arm with my shoulder?

T.O.S.: Chronic shoulder aching followed by tingling ; numbness arm ; hand suggests thoracic outlet syndrome, as arm nerves are impinged (pinched) in shoulder region. These symptoms oft occur when arm raised to shoulder height as clavicle (collar bone) caused to rotate downward causing closure of space between clavicle ; underlying 1st rib. See an osteopath. Imo many neurologist doubt existence of tos.
