One condition that: Can show up as pain between fingers in the web is tendonitis or trigger digit of either finger on the palm side in the flexor tendon. Pain can seem to be in the web but actually the palm may be tender near the finger palm crease. Varies: If it is not very much of a problem, you may just leave it go or try an antiinflammatory. If it gets worse, consider being seen. It is a fairly uncommon place to have a tendinitis. One of the more common causes is called cubital tunnel syndrome, which is a pinching of the ulnar nerve at the elbow and can cause pain or numbness in the fourth and fifth fingers. ...Read more

See below:: Possibly yes, but it happening on both sides at the same time is uncommon. It could be a number of other things in a 35 yo female, like rheumatoid. Unlikely: A tendonitis of the hand would cause pain, swelling and tenderness along the flexor tendon of usually one finger. A stenosing tenosynovitis would cause a trigger finger. Isolated stiffness as a symptoms would not be a symptom. Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, which usually causes numbness and tingling in the hand, can occasionally present itself just with numbness in the thumb and index finger. ...Read more

Possible: This sounds more like a contusion than tendonitis, but it would be possible to have a tendonitis of a flexor tendon. It would be reasonable to treat with ice/heat as well as NSAIDs (i.e. Advil, (ibuprofen) Aleve), and then see an orthopedist for further evaluation if symptoms persist or worsen. ...Read more
