MRI of ankle shows tenosynovitis of flexor longus tendon. Can that contribute to tarsal tunnel?

MRI of ankle shows tenosynovitis of flexor longus tendon. Can that contribute to tarsal tunnel?

Tenosynovitis: Tenosynovitis means inflammation of the internal lining/membrane of a tendon. The Flexor Hallucis Longus or Flexor Digitorum longus tendons run along the medial ankle to the bottom of the foot to each respective toe. The FHL and FDL tendons, along with the Posterior Tibial Tendon and a Neurovascular bundle run in the tarsal canal, so, yes, inflammation of any of these tendons can affect Tarsal T ...Read more

Is tendonitis of the wrist similar to a sprained wrist?

Is tendonitis of the wrist similar to a sprained wrist?

Not really: Tendonitis is inflammation of a tendon sheath (the tight passageway where tendons glide). A sprained wrist is an injury of the ligaments of the wrist. Tendons move joints and are attached to muscles. Ligaments connect bones to other bones across joints. Both can happen after trauma (a fall or twisting injury), but a sprain doesn't happen over time like tendonitis can develop. ...Read more

Joint and back pain and stiffness with numerous trigger points, most recent MRI of hand revealed a partial tear of the flexor pollicis longus tendon?

Should I do surgery of subtle volar fracture through proximal base of proximal phalanx of thumb with volary distraction of avulsed fracture fragment?

See a hand surgeon: Fractures through joint surfaces are generally more problematic than those outside of joints. Depending on a number of factors, they may predispose to the onset of early arthritis in the joint if the surface is not reconstructed accurately. I would see a hand surgeon to evaluate the particulars of your case. Good luck. ...Read more

I was diagnoses with acute complete tear of peroneal retinaculum and subluxation of the perneous longus and brevis tendons what's the treatment?

Surgery: The retinaculum is a band that holds the peroneus muscle tendons down against the outside aspect of the foot. It provides a tunnel through which the tendons maintain their position and fulcrum action. Surgery is the only way to correct this problem. Since the retinaculum is ligamentous and has no true blood supply it cannot heal itself and thus surgical repair is necessary. See you foot doctor!! ...Read more
