You may have: A viral infection that may actually be infectious mononucleosis, or bacterial pharyngitis such as strep throat. Whatever medicines you take for these symptoms may also be responsible for making your brain feel that way. Most viral infections will finish its course in 3-7 days by itself, and bacterial infections will require antibiotics to treat. Thanks for trusting in HealthTap.

Diff possibilities: Tender is usually a good sign & if you have a few relatively small tender lymph nodes you might have mild subclinical allergies or have a cold coming on. However if you have a very lg or hard, immobile node (s) it's best to get that checked out. You might also want to check for swollen lymph nodes elsewhere in the body & if you find some, that would be another reason to get checked out.
Inguinal lymph nodes: That are swollen, painful and tender, are usually result of an infection in the leg or in the groin area. If it is on both sides, it might be caused by a generalized infection. Treat the infection, and the lymph nodes will subside. If you don't have an infection, it could be lymph cell malignancy, such as hodgkin's disease, so get to a doctor if the swelling persists for more than several days.See 1 more doctor answer
Should I take the antibiotic prescribed for my tender glands. I had a cold two weeks ago, gland swelling is secondary and still present. No fever!
Why given?: There is no evidence that oral antibiotics help with viral lymphadenopathy. Ask you doctor why you need the antibiotics if you have questions.
Woke w/tender glands in throat (hardly painful) achy body, chills&slight fever before bed took 2 ibruprofen & nxt morning was 100% fine. What was tht?
Most likely you have: An upper respiratory virus, such as a cold virus. Colds often cause sore throat & swollen glands. There's no cure for colds. Symptomatic treatment with decongestion, OTC pain meds, rest & fluids will get you thru it. If you get high fever, productive cough, sinus pain, shortness of breath or difficulty swallowing, you should see a doctor. Best wishes. Dr. Anne.
I have small bump on neck under ear. Feels like marble. Think it's firm and tender glands and it hurts my ear but not my throat. What is it?
Adult Neck Mass: 23 year old lady presenting with a neck mass under ear. You need a full history and careful exam by a physician that includes examination of your head, neck, oral mucosa, teeth, nasopharynx. Young adults typically present with cervical lymphadenopathy, cysts and benign masses, however, referral to an ENT specialist and Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology may sometimes need to be performed based/exam.
Med eval: It would be beneficial to have this evaluated to ensure that you don't have streph throat (which requires antibiotic treatment). Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Or gargle with aloe vera juice twice a day. Add honey & a small amt. Of lemon juice to chamomile tea.
