I've got swollen tender glands in my neck, but I don't actually feel any other ill symptoms?

Diff possibilities: Tender is usually a good sign & if you have a few relatively small tender lymph nodes you might have mild subclinical allergies or have a cold coming on. However if you have a very lg or hard, immobile node(s) it's best to get that checked out. You might also want to check for swollen lymph nodes elsewhere in the body & if you find some, that would be another reason to get checked out. ...Read more

Remember: There is a difference between a cyst and an abscess. If it starts hurting badlyit needs to get drained. The cyst itself, if uninfected, may run it's course but I am not aware of a way to drain it. Keep the area clean with soap and water, no intercourse, and it may recede. The cyst is generally not painful, the abscess is and requires attn. I wish i had a better solution. Gd luc. ...Read more

Inguinal lymph nodes: That are swollen, painful and tender, are usually result of an infection in the leg or in the groin area. If it is on both sides, it might be caused by a generalized infection. Treat the infection, and the lymph nodes will subside. If you don't have an infection, it could be lymph cell malignancy, such as hodgkin's disease, so get to a doctor if the swelling persists for more than several days. ...Read more

Why given?: There is no evidence that oral antibiotics help with viral lymphadenopathy. Ask you doctor why you need the antibiotics if you have questions. ...Read more

Most likely you have: an upper respiratory virus, such as a cold virus. Colds often cause sore throat & swollen glands. There's no cure for colds. Symptomatic treatment with decongestion, OTC pain meds, rest & fluids will get you thru it.
