Maybe (not). . .: Even after examining a patient in person, it is often very difficult to predict what will happen in the future. Now you're asking us to predict how this person will do w/o ever examining her. It can't be done other than to say we hope that she will improve. However, if you feel that she is getting worse, then it's best that she be evaluated by her physician, specifically the one treating infection. ...Read more

Yikes!: I tend to think worst case scenario - better to be wrong than miss something. For an otherwise healthy teenage boy to develop limb weakness, falling, and back pain, one has to rule out a spinal cord lesion. He needs to get imaging immediately, including spinal column x-ray series plus brain & cord MRI with & without contrast. May need spinal tap with cytology too. Get him to an ER STAT. ...Read more

21 yr old fiancee had TB meningitis in july 2013 wid bilateral infarcts, she has recovered alot bt still has weakness in right side nd spasm in lower limbs nd very sleepy most times. Will she get well

Sad situation: The information is difficult to provide. TB meningitis with cerebral infarcts will cause permanent loss of function in the areas destroyed by the disease. Nerve tissue does not regenerate like many other tissues. At 21, the recovery potential would be much greater than a 40 yo, but still unpredictable. Now that you are a year out from the illness, further progress, if any, may be minimal. ...Read more

Needs to be checked: You have high blood pressure and history of 3+ edema in legs/ankles. We do not know the cause of it. Apparently you have some vhronic medical conditions and now you have which seem like some neuromuscular condition causing weakness and gait problem

Call 911; chew aspir: A stroke is an emergency, can be halted or reversed if treated within the 1st minutes or hours. The earlier treated, the higher the chance of a favorable outcome. Call 911 to get rapid help, then chew and swallow a full-size aspirin. Lacunar infarcts are most common aftr TB meningitis nd people get well but my fiancee still has mild weakness in her right limbs, spams and fatigue even at 1 yr mark. Will she get functional outcome?

Hope: People often begin to recover within hours or days of a lacunar stroke. Lacunar strokes have a better rate of recovery than other strokes that involve larger blood vessels. More than 90 percent of people with a lacunar stroke will recover substantially within the first three months following the stroke. Keep therapy going at home. Good luck. ...Read more
