Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

What are the risks of vaginal vault prolapse during pregnancy? 27w pregnant breech baby

My baby died in womb at 40 weeks + 4 days. No umbrical cord wrapping or placenta seperation. Does cephalo pelvic disproportion cause death. ?

My baby died in womb at 40 weeks + 4 days. No umbrical cord wrapping or placenta seperation. Does cephalo pelvic disproportion cause death. ?

Sorry for your loss: Tragically, many fetal deaths after 40 weeks remain unexplained. Cpd means that the baby gets "stuck" after a very prolonged labor. If your baby died before labor started, then it wasn't cpd. If you decide to have another child, give yourself enough time to grieve and heal, and then work closely with a perinatologist (high risk OB specialist) who can do extra specialized testing and monitor well. ...Read more

33 wks pregnant irregular painless contractions, positive ffn test, 1 CM dilated, baby well into pelvis, 6th pregnancy, will i give birth early?

Hard to say: The fetal fibrobectin test is much more predictive of the real condition, or the truth, when the test is negative, than when it is positive. A single positive ffn test result is not highly predictive of preterm labor and delivery, and since you are probably not in active labor from irregular contractions, it's hard to answer your question with confidence. See your OB regularly as directed ...Read more

Anteverted, bulky gravid uterus, single intrauterine gestational sac 2.7 cm gestational age 6 weeks 6 days no fetal pole is this OK?or a miscarriage?

Blighted ovum: A gestational sac without a fetal with a gestational age of almost 7 weeks is most likely a blighted ovum (non development of the fetus). Most likely with result is a miscarriage. If not you may need a D&C. Follow up with your gynecologist in 1-2 weeks. ...Read more

What's your question: Presumably you're wondering if you're pregnant. If so, take a home pregnancy test. While IUDs are amazingly effective, partly b/c they take out human variable when it comes to adherence, they're not infallible. So if you're worried about possible pregnancy, home pregnancy tests are inexpensive, available w/o prescription, and highly accurate (just as good as those in doctor's office). ...Read more

Fetal doppler...: ...Can detect any movement of blood in the body, but with a false pregnancy, all the doppler rhythms should be at the same rate as the woman's heartbeat. Fetal heartbeat tends to be much faster so if you find that, the pregnancy is probably real. ...Read more

TVS measured cervical length 56mm@20wks to 38mm@27wks, fFN+, cramping/backache, spotting. Normal shortening of CL? What's the risk of preterm labor?

TVS measured cervical length 56mm@20wks to 38mm@27wks, fFN+, cramping/backache, spotting. Normal shortening of CL? What's the risk of preterm labor?

Very real risk: The positive fetal fibronectin suggests that the risk is very real and treatment to prevent/stop preterm labor +/- steroids to hasten lung maturity should be considered based on your particular case. If one is available I would guess your OB wants to consult a maternal-fetal medicine specialist ( a doctor who specializes in high risk pregnancies). Best wishes to you and the baby. Hope this helps. ...Read more
