Teen Estrogen Will Develop All
I was wondering if a teen has low estrogen levels will they develop all the womanly qualities once the estrogen is introduced?
Low Estrogen: Estrogen levels vary throughout the menstrual cycle. If periods are absent, a good first step is to check for pregnancy, then try Progesterone withdrawal. If a bleed occurs, estrogen is likely ok. If no bleed, FSH levels are checked. If high, consider ovarian failure, if low hypothalamic hypogonadism due to stress, exercise, anorexia, or genetics could be the cause. Bcpills may be advised. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I would see your doctor to make sure this is breast tissue and to check the chemical and hormonal balance in your body. You may also want to check your weight, as that is a more common cause of gynecomastia in males. ...Read more

Since people who are overweight generally have less testosterone, will they develop late or less?
Yes, often: It's complicated but what happens in normal weight boys at puberty is a huge surge of testosterone to make their penis and testicles enlarge, muscles and hair to grow and voice to deepen. In obese kids, a lot of the testosterone made gets converted to estrogen by an enzyme made in fat cells. The more fat cells, the higher estrogen levels and this lowers the bioavailable testosterone. ...Read more
