My grandma (80+) has a lot of eye pain, dr prescribed her tears naturale (artificial tears) but her pain is still severe, is there any other med/vitamin that can help?
Eye Pain: While dry eye can cause eye pain there are many other causes including inflammation, infection, glaucoma (high pressure), neurological and rarely tumors. I am assuming the doctor she saw was an eye doctor - if not she needs to see an ophthalmologist (eye md) for complete evaluation. Evaporative dry eyes. Use Genteal gel 2X/day n Tears Naturale (artificial tears) 4-6x. Still not comfy when windy. Is Restasis or plugs a better option? Risks?

Dry eyes: I am guessing your ophthalmolgist said you have some degree of eye dryness. Lacrilube (artificial tears) is a topical ointment useful to apply at night only just before sleep to help keep the eye protected during sleep. If ineffective for you, then you might have to supplement during the day with a topical drop labeled lubricating or tear replacement. Don't use the ones labeled "gets the red out". ...Read more
