You received DTap?: DTap is given up to those under age 7 years and first licensed for use in July 1996 ( you would have been too old I think) Tdap is used at age 11 years & above. Both vaccines contain inactivated forms of Diphtheria, Tetanus, & Pertussis (Whooping Cough). Tdap has smaller dose of the diphtheria & pertussis portion of the vaccine. Yes: Yes. TDap is safe in pregnancy and is recommended to be given to all pregnant women between 27 and 36 weeks. It most importantly protects from Pertussis, or the "whooping cough" and allows for transfer of antibodies from you to your baby through the placenta and then through breastfeeding. This is important as your baby cannot get fully vaccinated in the first few months of life. ...Read more

Unrelated: The pain at the injection site is due to the vaccine and should resolve in 24-48 hours. You have a hangover from the chemical impurities in the tequila in the margaritas, and this too should pass. Hope you had a good time while drinking. EFFECTIVE 10 YEARS: It is recommended a booster be given every ten years, as first tdap is given at age of 11, to children who have completed primary vaccination ate age four with five doses of dtap, that is three doses in first year, one in second year after age 15 months, fifth at or after age 4 years.
