Tb Skin Test Frequency
Tb skin test negative, quentform TB test negative, bone marrow biopsy results indicative of TB (reacts to ziehl niehlssen), PCR negative. How come?
No...actually: The zn stain is a broad stain for acid fast bacilli of which mycobacterium tuberculosis is one of many. The specific tests like quantiferon or the pcr test are against you having tb. The culture is the "gold standard" but you will need to wait for it. It might turn out be a cousin of TB and that too will grow out of culture. Stay on TB meds until they are certain of the AFB positive organism. ...Read more

Tuberculosis vaccinated, TB test positive...Will my ANA be positive because of TB test positive due to vaccine?
Tb blood tested negative but TB skin testd positive, what is that mean? Continuous low grade fever, swollenlumpnodes, sore thrt, HIV PCR RNA negative.
Contradictory Tb tst: Quantiferon-TB(the blood test) and the PPD(skin test) are not recommended together. The quantiferon test has more sensitivity/specificity(measures for how good medical tests are) but the gold standard is culturing the bacteria from either tissue or sputum which should be attempted if their is clinical suspicion for TB infection. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
When the hiv test is conclusive?.what causes repeated perianal fungal infection?last hiv test 14monthes postexposure.is negative?
No worries: Every HIV test that exists, anywhere in the world, is conclusive by 3 months. The most commonly used tests are conclusive by 4-8 weeks. For sure your negative result at 14 months proves you don't have HIV, no matter how high risk the exposure (and if not reexposed), and no matter how typical the symptoms. Entirely healthy people often get perianal fungal infections; it's not a sign of HIV. ...Read more

2 TB skin tests. Bumps measured 15cm. RN stated I possibly have LTBI & ordered QuantiFERON Gold in-tube test. Could anything cause a false positive?
Not at 15cm, but...: The bump is more likely 15mm, because 15cm is 6 inches and HUGE. A 15mm bump on a screening test is big but may still be a false positive (a screening test means the patient has NO symptoms of tuberculosis). If a patient has contacted somebody with TB, or has current symptoms, she likely has a true positive unless her bump is due to past BCG vaccine. The Quantiferon-TB blood test is very accurate ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Sputum test negative awaiting for the culture in 3 weeks. How like to be positive ?I have TB latent but with symptoms for active TB.
Why do you ask?: Expect to wait eight weeks to be certain. The decision, in the meantime, is whether to treat you for presumptive tuberculosis. Make the decision with your physician's guidance. I had a fever and x-ray shadow, weight loss and positive PPD but never grew any bugs; treatment still probably saved my life. Best wishes. ...Read more
