Tax Credit Do I Qualify
Medicaid/Free clinic: Medicaid is health insurance for the poor. Unfortunately your state voted against expanding the services. So it depends on your income level as to whether or not you qualify. Some cities have free clinics that service the uninsured. Do an internet search for resources. I saw one called the monday clinic-2875 merrell road in dallas, texas. If emergency- go to er. Vote for someone who cares. ...Read more
Y do some doctors choose not 2 accept uninsured patients? I can afford 2 pay out of pocket but i don't want health insurance right now. #young&healthy
Most don't: Have a choice because of their contracts with insurance companies. The ic's insist that you charge the same inflated charge to the patients that we bill to the ic's, despite the ic's consistently paying around 60% of what was billed. It's a stupid control game that we all need to fight for change, and regulation of the ic's. That is one of the reason I am concierge. Ic's are evil. My opinion. ...Read more
Not involved with it: Insurance is not involved in HealthTap PRIME (in 2015), although insurance policies may improve to cover simple online consultations in the future, as more and more doctors use new technology to care for patients. Because HealthTap is not involved with insurance, it currently makes no difference what insurance one has. A person is welcome to use HealthTap, and pay if selecting a premium service. ...Read more
Where can I buy antidepressants confidentially if I have public employee health program insurance?
Complicated : Older doctor (30 years ago when i started) told me an office call should cost 100x the cost of a postage stamp. When letters were 6 cents to mail, an office call was about $6.. Now postage is 45 cents & most office calls are over $45. Insurance companies & governement regulations for medical care have added tons of paperwork for the dr. Pay the dr. Directly, & everybody pays something. ...Read more
I don't have a job anymore can't afford insurance on my own. Who will be selling the obama-care low-cost insurance?
Marketplace/Exchange: The state or federal websites where people can go to buy health insurance are called health insurance exchanges, or marketplaces. California's marketplace is called covered california, and is where people can go to compare and select health insurance plans offered by private companies, and to find out if they are eligible for financial aid to help afford the insurance. Marketplace opens oct. 2013. ...Read more
Why do big health insurance companies pay their executives so much? I can’t pay my premium or my deductible, and I live in fear that i’ll get sick or injured.
You aren't Alone: I imagine they have much responsibility, which may justify their salaries; however with constant rising premiums and reduced reimbursments, i feel the patients and physicians end up suffering the most. Fortunate for you, there are a number of compassionate physicians who will work with patients in need - in their clinics or in free clinics around the country. Hope may be on horizon w/ new laws. ...Read more
Refuse to pay high deductible then get only minimal use for insurance. So I don't go anymore. Penny wise and pound foolish?
How old?: If you're young and healthy, it makes financial sense to have a high deductible plan. I wouldn't go to the doctor that much either. However, if you have any chronic illnesses - diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, or if you're going to be missing any of your normal screening exams (like colonoscopy or mammograms) - it's foolish to put off medical care. Not worth it. ...Read more
Many ways.: Insurance companies collect information on the type of visit billed by the doctor, the associated diagnosis (pneumonia, diabetes), the medicines that were prescribed, and any other treatments given. They then use that info to calculate risk, track spending, limit how many meds or services are provided, and many other ways we don't know about. Just assume they know everything. ...Read more
Can I be qualify for medical, im 26 fulltime community college student. No job r income. I live w/ & get help from my low income parents. Live in cali?
Eligibility : There are many people who qualify for medical, but have no idea how to apply. I suggest starting with contacting a federally qualified health center (it'll take some google work to find one in your area). These health centers have financial counselors and other staff to determine your exact eligibility for medical and help you get registered and set up with a primary care doc. Good luck! ...Read more

Should colleges cut tuition costs for med students so their practices won't charge a lot of money to pay back student loans?
Thinking of ways: To cut health care costs is always good. Something, our elected officials should do a better job at. There are problems with your concept mentioned. What if those students don't graduate? What if they decide they don;t like being doctors and stop? Most fees are set by insurance companies and many are low to begin with. If you lower them more, the doctors won't be able to pay for malpractice etc... ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Must have insurance: E.R. Care and hospital care is so expensive in the U.S. That only the wealthy can afford it without insurance. Many people go bankrupt or nearly bankrupt if they have a significant illness with a prolonged (>2 weeks) hospital stay, because the hundreds of thousands of dollars is paid by themselves. When the money runs out, patients can get medicaid-type (medical in california) health "insurance". ...Read more
