Possibly: A CCP antibody is a much better test but your symptoms could suggest RA. See a rheumatologist to establish a diagnosis and begin treatment. Intense inflammation limited to the feet can also suggest gout. ...Read more

23 Male. Keep waking up with sore, visibly red and inflamed middle pinky joint. Hurts pretty badly, eventually lessens during the day. Definitely its worst when I wake up. Scared its onset Rheumatoid Arthritis.. What are the other possibilities?

Other arthritis: There are other types of arthritis, including run-of-the-mill osteoarthritis (OA, generic "arthritis"), infections (viral, Lyme disease, TB, Neisseria - latter 3 can be treated), paraneoplastic arthritis (related to cancer), lupus or other autoimmune conditions, & arthritis related to gout, crystal disease, or other systemic disease (IBD). If your anemia is caused by chronic inflammation such as RA, treating the underlying etiology for anemia by Rituximab will eventually lead to an increase red blood cell count. If your anemia is caused autoimmune-medicated hemolysis, Rituximab can also help increase red cell counts. But, Rituximab itself does not have direct effect on red cell production. ...Read more

Suspect estrogen!: Women typically have appreciably more redness around the periphery of the palms and the finger pads than men. It is an effect of estrogen in the body. The fact that you noticed it after the birth of your child, when during pregancy you had much higher estrogen levels, rather proves the point. It is called palmar erythema.
