Took 40mg 4 days then 50mg 3 days prednisone, going to taper dose down now. have a migraine today, can prednisone at this amount cause migraines?
Not usually: Prednisone can often be used as a therapy for migraines. It isn't clear why you are taking prednisone, nor why you are increasing the dose then tapering, but at least it seems that you have not been on the drug for that long. Prednisone can cause migraines, but that typically occurs when patients are on the drug for either a prolonged time or when overuse has occurred.

My question is it ok to abruptly stop prednisone after 5 days ?
Yes since short dura: yes since it's a short duration. This depends whether you have other health problems, or taking prednisone before for long periods. I am not a fan of using prednisone for this type of neck pain. It would be best to see your physician, get a full of evaluation, and a clear diagnosis
Prednisone: Depends on what it is being used for. Send details.
Probably won't: Adrenal insufficiency (steroid withdrawl) is usually only an issue after long term therapy. Doses less than 60 mg for 5 days or less don't usually require a taper.

You might have a condition called 2/2 Adrenal insufficiency due to suppression of Adrenal glad due to chronic use of Prednison. you might need slower and longer tapering. Talk to an Endocrine doctor. It's your doc's call: That said, if the pills are scored, breakable, or the pills are low dose - like 5 mg, you could make the taper a little gentler. Consult with your prescriber.
