On tamoxifen having several issues with ovarian cysts and pelvic pain. No chance of having children. Would i benefit from removal of my ovaries?
My FSH was 2.7, estrodial was1340, was on tamoxifen, had a couple of ovarian cysts. Had mastectomy for 1mm bc.Grade 3. Was a bilateral ooph necessary
Need more info: Your fsh indicates you are not yet in menopause and the cysts could be worrisome. Have you done brca testing or ova1 testing for the cysts? Your doctor may be trying to be proactive and remove the ovaries prior to a potentially worse situation. No real way to accurately determine if someone has ovarian ca without pathology, only an educated guess by ultrasound and lab testing. ...Read more

Letrozole: Tamoxifen for 5 years followed by Letrozole would be an option. However, technically you are still premenopausal so not an option. Another treatment which is controversial is to have your ovaries removes. There is data on 10 years of tamoxifen now but you may not want to do this. The other option would be observation. Perhaps: A cyst can impinge on the ureter on the same side which can then impede urine flow causing some kidney pain on that side.
