I slipped on my stairs and hit my forearm on the step. It immediately went to swelling. It feels like a knot in the center. It has swollen a good bit and it burns. Medium to dark bruise. I have it on ice and taking pain pills (vicodin 5/500) i already

Pinched Nerve/Muscle: Most times back pain that is sudden onset will resolve. He should use anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen, aleve around the clock and even tylenol to help. If this does not resolve he should see his doctor for a muscle relaxant as well. If it still does not resolve, i would recommend him to see a spine specialist for a full evaluation and testing. And if you haven't been eating any gas-forming foods(like broccoli or beans,etc) and you haven't been so nervous you've been swallowing air and-you took the pain pills and you got gas and stopped taking them and the gas went away--then took them and the gas came back--hmmm, what do you think? ...Read more

Find cause instead: Lots of causes of "stomach pain", but epigastric burning & pain after meals raises the probability of gastritis & ulcers. Stop any non-prescribed nsaid's or aspirin; cut out tobacco & alcohol; start an otc acid reducer (like Prilosec otc, Prevacid 24hr).
