Equal dose?: You are comparing apples, losartan (L), with oragnes, Diltiazem (D). Both lower blood pressure and so by different means. Instead of focusing on the dose, in mg, one should focus on how well one's blood pressure is controlled and the any adverse side effects. Speak to your physician (P), as your P knows the you best of all. ...Read more

Is a heart rate hovering between 50-60 BPM safe? I'm now on diltiazem and losartan for hbp, and it was always in the 70-80 BPM range previously.
I had been on losartan 50 daily for hypertention for 1 year & recently I had some palpitation & doctor change me to diltiazem sr 90 daily. Is it ok?
Bb and ca blockers: You can but it may cause decrease in heart rate. Personally I only combine them in some occasions such as uncontrolled heart rate with atrial fib. For svt and you being quite young likely having a high sympathetic tone with high elevations of heart rate your doctor had to end up giving combo pills. The alternatives are not many but ablation may be an option. Good luck. ...Read more
Yes, however....: This combination of medicines both affect heart rate as they both target the av node. Many times serial ekgs will be used to make sure you are tolerating this combination. I will say that this combination (especially immediate release diltiazem) is unusual. ...Read more

What is cause of cramps? Ibuprofen may make BP harder to control. It should be taken occasionally, but not on a regular basis (more than once/twice daily for a few days at a time).
I do not believe Ibuprofen specifically reacts or causes adverse reaction with diltiazem, but it may make BP harder to control by decreasing kidney function (and thus body's ability to get rid of salt/sodium). ...Read more

If doctor didn't specify & I'm taking losartan & bystolic (nebivolol) is it ok to be taken together or should I take 1 morning & 1 evening & which one? So confuse
Hypertensive meds: Some patients prefer to take medications like bystolic (nebivolol) in the evening as they feel more fatigued when they take it in the morning. Losartan often has to be taken twice a day to be fully effective as its efficacy may only last 12 hours. If your blood pressure tends to be highest during the afternoon, I recommend taking it in the morning if you're only on one dose a day. Your physician can advise you ...Read more
I have read different things about taking bystolic (nebivolol) & losartan together causing potassium issues should I be concerned? My kidney function is great!!
Probably not: I agree there is a small chance of elevated potassium levels (hyperkalemia) with these two medications, if you have no kidney dysfunction or other medications predisposing you to elevated potassium levels you should be fine. Nonetheless you healthcare provider you should be monitoring your for elevated potassium levels, particularly when you just start taking these medications. ...Read more

Midodrine is an Alpha receptor agonist used to treat patients w/orthostatic hypotension, whose blood pressure falls when they change positions. I can't imagine too many patients w/htn who are orthostatic w/treatment where you'd add another med rather than give fluids, etc. ...Read more

Hi. Can I take toprol (metoprolol) XL 100mg and losartan potassium 100mg together at the same time? I take at bedtime.
Is there any danger using L-Arginine, L-Citrulline, and Losartan Potassium together to manage blood pressure?
Alcohol & meds/drugs: It is strongly recommended that you not drink alcohol with adizem (diltiazem, a calcium-channel blocker). Alcohol affects how fast the medication is released from the capsule, according the prescribing information. Given that you are taking this for cardiovascular disease (high blood pressure or heart health reasons), it would make sense not to put yourself in danger because you consumed alcohol. ...Read more
