My son has a painful cough, head, body hurts. He's 5 1/2. I gave him Zarbees honey cough syrup last night, seemed to get worse. What else can I do?

Should be evaluated: Night-time cough may suggest viral illness or postnasal drip = common cause. Asthma/allergy sxs also produce night-time cough. NEED SOME PATIENCE:: If honey and natural stuffs not helping, then check with his pediatrician. Some cough is good because it is a natural defense mechanism to clear the upper airway, sinuses and lower respiratory tract. Sick infant 10 month: DO NOT GIVE BRANDY or HONEY to a 10 month old.There is botulism in honey and infant's stomach can not kill it, so they can get botulism. Cough: You have not said how old your grandson is. As the treatment is dependent on his age, if he is under a year of age, honey is not recommended. If cough last for more than a few days then schedule doctor appointment, if he is over a year of age honey is safe.
