The two main ways they prevent pregnancy are: 1) The hormones thicken the cervical mucous, which keeps sperm from entering the uterus on their way to the egg; and 2) By maintaining a level of hormone in the blood stream that prevents the ...Read more

Absorption: Some claim that food can interfere with mtx absorption but I have read numerous articles to say that mtx can be taken with food. The usual case is that higher doses (chemotherapy) are usually taken on an empty stomach and lower doses (such as those used in rheumatoid arthritis) can be taken with or without food. ...Read more
Depends on what for: Generally "GI cocktail" is antacid/anti-gas/numbing medicines. Taken when symptoms e.g. heartburn/dyspepsia occur, often to distinguish causes but not as long-term remedy - thus when taken depends more on when sxs than necessarily timing of meals. As a rule of thumb, I ask my patients to take most pills with something like a small piece of bread or rice to help soothe any irritation to the gastric lining -- as well as to increase the digestive process. Except for a few medicines (thyroid, anti-acid meds, nausea meds) you should remember that rule. Thanks for trusting in HealthTap. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is it okey to start taking contraceptive pills while I'm taking a daily meloxicam 15 mg ?? And when should i start taking the pills before sex?
Yes: There is no problem with taking meloxicam with birth control pills. You can start them any time as long as you don't mind breakthrough bleeding. This can be whatever time is easiest for them to remember. Taken that way you can rely in them after 2 weeks ...Read more

Try another pill: If you are truly not tolerating a birth control pill after an entire cycle (and needing to take another pill to counteract a side effect), then it sounds like you and that pill are not a good match. Omeprazole is an antacid designed to be taken in 2 week bursts and is not really meant to be taken for long periods to counter a side-effect. I think it would be worth discussing changing pills. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
