When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
Bleeding.: Only theoretical fetal risks exist for the consumption of 81 mg of Aspirin daily periconceptionally and during the pregnancy - namely a small increase in the incidence of fetal gastroschisis. My main concern would be the slightly increased risk of placental abruption and definite increased risk of any bleeding because of platelet inhibition. Aspirin may prevent fetal growth restriction and pree. ...Read more
What are the risks in taking lovenox (enoxaparin) /heparin during pregnancy? What if baby aspirin is taken as well?
Heparin: Plain Heparin and Lovenox (enoxaparin) (lmw heparin) can both cause easy bruising and bleeding, even hemorrhage, decrease in normal platelet numbers, bone thinning - scary stuff - but usually are very safe. The trick is never to use them without a clear benefit to outweigh the risks, and always monitored under a specialist care. ...Read more
Had mc earlier this year now 6 wks pregnant taking hormone suppositories twice daily &baby aspirin daily. Is it safe for me to have amniocentesis?
"Two" soon: It is too soon to do amniocentesis and would risk miscarriage and defeat the progesterone suppositories use to retain the pregnancy. If you still have concerns, talk to your OB MD about chorionic villus sampling later in the first trimester if there is a medical or genetic reason for determining the use of the procedure. ...Read more
If you have a blood clotting disorder- IgM aside from taking baby aspirin, do you get heparin before or just during pregnancy?
More info needed: Issues about coagulation and anticoagulation in pregnancy cannot be answered with the amount of information supplied. I'm not sure if "igm" is referring to igm lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma (waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia) or something else. In general -- in many coagulation issues in pregnancy low molecular weight Heparin (lmwh) is used with close anti-xa monitoring. ...Read more
Does taking baby aspirin lengthen period? Started baby aspirin and folic acid while menstrating in hopes of getting pregnant. Brown spotting occurring
For pregnancy for someone with history of uedvt...What is diff b/w heparin and lovenox (enoxaparin)? Why would one also be on baby aspirin?
Heparins, etc: Unfractionated Heparin (UFH) can be given IV or sq (as prophylaxis) and was used historically and is used now especially if want to turn on/off and be able to reverse it (w/ protamine). Enoxaparin (lovenox) is a low molecular weight Heparin (lmwh) that can be given subcutaneously (sq) for prophylaxis or treatment. Aspirin is used more to prevent arterial (mi, tia, stroke) not venous clots. ...Read more
My cardio said baby aspirin will be enough while pregnant; have small PFO and atrital septal aneurysm. Very scared about this, is it ok? No symptoms.
Yes: A baby aspirin, 81mg, will likely not harm your pregnancy and could possibly help. It seems that you need additional information other than solely positive for ana. Make sure to get that additional testing from your doctor. I wouldn't take the Aspirin based on my advice, though, you need to be under a doctor's care who knows your background and can appropriately treat you. ...Read more
I tested weakly positive for lupus anticoagulant. I have been on baby aspirin for 2months now, can I have a successful pregnancy on that alone?
See details: A low positive test is not clinically significant so no preventative therapy is needed. There is no evidence that low dose ASA has any value in this situation. ...Read more

Hi is it OK to take baby aspirin during pregnancy? Am 19 weeks and doc recommended that I take so that I shud not have a preterm baby...is it safe?
Depends: It is considered safe in the first and second trimesters with no toxic effects on the fetus. It is relatively safe in the early 3rd trimester but problems with the newborn can occur if it is used around the time of delivery. ...Read more
I have been having recurrent miscarriages. I tested weakly positive for lupus anticoagulant. Can I have a successful pregnancy on baby aspirin?
My doctor prescribed baby aspirin and 25mg Zoloft (sertraline) I am 27 weeks pregnant is it ok to take these together?
SSRI and bleeding: Zoloft (sertraline) and its cousins can block how well platelets work and therefore can cause bleeding. Aspirin also blocks platelet function and the two together could theoretically cause problems. Aspirin is probably the more important drug for you during pregnancy. See what you doctor thinks. ...Read more

Dr I'm 10 weeks pregnant, I had 2 miscarriages before at 5 weeks, now I have baby aspirin, clexane injection, folic acid, any side effect to baby?
It is likely safe:
Enoxaparin ("Clexane" in UK; "Lovenox" in US) is commonly prescribed to pregnant women and is believed to be safe. It should be stopped before delivery.
Aspirin should not be used during pregnancy *unless prescribed by a doctor*; it is commonly prescribed to treat antiphospholipid syndrome (which can lead to miscarriages) and preeclampsia. ...Read more
I am on clomiphene citrate, baby aspirin and folic acid. I have maternal fraternal twin uncles, I've been pregnant with twins bf. Will I have twins?
I am 15w and 3d pregnant. I found out around 7 weeks I had a small subchorionic hemorrhage on the backside of my uterus. Will baby aspirin help?
Aspirin doesn't help: A subchorionic hemorrhage/hematoma is a bleed between the pregnancy and the uterine wall. It is an US finding, that if coupled with vaginal bleeding, can potentially increase the risk of miscarriage/preterm delivery, but w/out vaginal bleeding, it's hard to say. Size matters; worse if bigger (covering ~50% of placental bed) or occurring later. It can heal itself, but you just have to wait/watch. ...Read more

Five weeks pregnant already had two mc is it ok to take a low dose aspirin during 5w pregnancy? I heard if helps? Or should I not? What are the risk?
Not true: Most early first trimester miscarriages are a result of chromosomal combinations that are incompatible with further development and life. Adding Aspirin to the equation does nothing to prevent that situation. ...Read more
I'm 8weeks pregnant. I was prescribed low dose aspirin by my doctor. I feel pain in my lower abdomen down to legs soon after taking it, is it normal?
Aspirin: pain: Pain immediately after taking low dose aspirin is probably not caused by the aspirin. At eight weeks of pregnancy, the womb will be growing and cramps can be the result. If the pain persists, get an ultrasound to make certain the pregnancy is doing well. Your health care professional will examine you for other causes of the pain as well. ...Read more
Is daily low dose aspirin (75mg) safe in 12 week pregnancy? Due to slight high bp (130/90) I was prescribed aspirin (75mg) daily. Is it safe for foetus?
Aspirin & lactation: If low-dose Aspirin is taken, avoid breastfeeding for 1 to 2 hours after a dose to minimize antiplatelet effects in the infant (bleeding). Because of a single case report of metabolic acidosis, the american academy of pediatrics characterizes Aspirin as a drug that has been "associated with significant effects on some nursing infants and should be given to nursing mothers with caution. ...Read more
