I have shingles (went to doc, confirmed) and have been taking Advil every day. Will I get sick from too much Advil long-term?

Is advil (ibuprofen) needed ?: Long term use, even every other day, esp. when older, can lead to kidney issues.So the question is Advil offering a discernible benefit as you have Oxy. If the answer is no, then stop Advil as it's also requiring use of Prevacid (lansoprazole) which will not minimize renal risk. Try not to worry: You don't say why you needed to take advil (ibuprofen) so often, but you might want to have that checked by a doctor. If you followed directions about dosage limits, it should not be a problem. Of course you will die - we all will - but not likely from this medication. Advil (ibuprofen) + Naproxen: Both of these meds are considered NSAIDS which are notorious for causing GI problems (stomach bleeding), The maximum dose of Ibuprofen is 3.2 g, and Naproxen 1.5g daily. Do the math. There are other better ways of managing pain than taking same meds-NSAIDs.
