Feeling that a deppressive episode is hitting in I take effxor 150mg. is it okay to take remeron (mirtazapine) too.I am so scared of the mood that I feel comimg in.
Can't just pop pill: Antidepressant medication doesn't take effect immediately. It can be a couple of weeks before you feel the main effect of this medicine. You want to try to develop techniques that you deal with situations and alterations in your mood when they suddenly occur. Therapy can be helpful as well as adjustments of your medication. Talk this over with your doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Can I take Remeron with Lexapro (escitalopram) to counteract the decreased sexual effects of Lexapro (escitalopram). If so what is a safe combination. Thanks?
Remeron (mirtazapine) can help: There are some studies in which adding Remeron has alleviated sexual side effects. It doesn't work for everyone. Remeron can also provide synergistic relief for the primary symptoms. At lower doses, it tends to be sedating and can increase appetite (so might add to the potential SEs with Lexapro (escitalopram). At higher doses, it tends to get more activating as norepinephrine activation surpasses serotonin. ...Read more

I suffer from SAD generalised type even in most social events and actions. What's the best drug? Can I take remeron or zoloft (sertraline)? Which is better?
Look for underlying: I assume SAD refers to social anxiety disorder vs seasonal affective disorder vs schizoaffective disorder Finding the underlying cause is always better than taking a pill to mask the symptoms and create more symptoms. Looking at neurotransmitters. For example pyrrole disorder (which can be helped by zinc and vitamin B 6 ) can explain the social anxiety symptoms. Try desensitization, relaxatio ...Read more
Am i able to take remeron (mirtazapine) and clonazepam at the same time? It says to take each at night but the next day i had a headache.
Sedation is additive: Headache is a symptom caused, triggered and worsened by many factors. In general medications which can be sedating such as Remeron (mirtazapine) and klonapin can be additive . So though one can take both at night, it may be too much and therefore unnecessary . Your an individual , your doctor knows you best and is the best to review with you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I was wondering if it is safe to take Remeron (Mirtazapine) and Effexor XR (Venlafaxine ER) six hours apart from each other? E.g. Ven 6pm & Mirt 12am
Caution!: You do not state how come you are taking two different antidepressants - mirtazapine alone taken at bedtime should enable sleep and at gradually increasing doses should take care of the depression. Venlafaxine tends to have stimulating features in many people, perhaps accounting for it. This should be taken early in the day and at proper doses should take care of the depression alone. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can I take remeron (mirtazapine) and guanfacine together? Remeron (mirtazapine) is an a2 antagonist and guan is an a2 agonist. Would these compliment each other or cancel out?
Well ...: These 2 medicines would not be an ideal combination as they do interact as you mentioned. Mainly you'd be concerned about a dystegulation on your blood pressure. There are a lot safer & frankly better alternatives out there - depending on what you're taking them for. Always better safe than sorry ... Hope that helps! ...Read more

Currently takes remeron for sleep and appetite stimulation . Not helping depression. Can adding Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) help? Read about "California rocket fuel."
Hard to say: You don't give the dose or how long you have been on it. Remeron (mirtazapine) used to help sleep or increase appetite is usually in lower doses (7.5 to 15 mg/day) while the antidepressant effects are more likely at 30-60 mg per day. You have to be on it long enough between dose increases to see an effect, which can be 4-6 weeks. Is someone prescribing it? If so, THAT is where your advice should come from. ...Read more

Debating on whether to start my antidepressants again i used to take remeron now im switched 2 lexapro (escitalopram)..How do these exactly prevent anxiety attacks?
Discuss this with Dr: Hopefully your dr (or others) can explain too. Drugs will not prevent pas, in fact they can be side effects of those drugs. That said, those are both used for tx of anxiety as well as both being prescribed in depression. I'd like to suggest trying talk therapy too. Cbt can really work for learning ways to both reduce the freq, severity & manage the symptoms you identify. Best wishes. ...Read more
