What you expect to get out of taking biotin. Taking it will not do harm but it not do any good either. Take iron as prescribed. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.

Yes it is safe: Regarding Biotin and it's ability to help with hair and nail issues, there is very weak data that stated it might help. This was done in horse hoof studies that showed some help and the human studies were very weak studies. 9000 mcg of biotin is ok since toxicity studies have shown no issue up to 200, 000 mcg. We get biotin in whole grain bread and cereals, eggs, dairy products, nuts, dairy products and chicken. Keratin is found in skin, hair, teeth and nails.
