Coccyxdynia: The pain you have in tailbone is called coccyxdynia. This is common in people who sit a lot especially in rode/exercise bikes. It is caused by the continued pressure in that area. One will have to avoid sitting until the pain is relieved, ice, take NSAIDS ie aleve (naproxen) 2 tablets 2x per day with meals. Why is my coccyx keep hurting off and on when I bend over sometimes its one side and then the other side no injury or fall just colooscopy x4weeks?

Structure of coccyx: Coccydynia or tailbone pain can be caused by falling on tailbone or by vaginal childbirth. A lot of individuals have a tailbone the angles forward instead of being straight. An xray of the coccyx would show this. Colonoscopy with scope into rectum anterior to the coccyx might have traumatized these bones. Most of this pain disappears by weeks or months. If pain persists should see orthopedic dr. ...Read more

Is tailbone pain common after losing allot of weight. I lost about 100lbs w/ exercise & eating healthy. Now my tailbone hurts! Ha I use a Donut to sit.

Yes: First I want to congratulate your new healthy living program. You have added many more years to your life. The problem at hand is that the fat that was around your coccyx is not there any more to protect it. Using the donut is smart. Give your body time to adjust, it may take about a month. In the meantime taking a medicine like Aleve (naproxen) or Advil may help relieve your discomfort. ...Read more

What injury?: It would help to know what your injury was, however, if you broke your coccyx (tailbone), it would be expected to have pain in the tailbone when you try to sit on the broken bone. Get a pillow called a donut (shaped like one) or something else to sit on that is cut out in the middle. If it hurts only there, it is unlikely the disc is symptomatic. ...Read more
