I will try to help: Let us assume the problem in the tail bone it self (no hemorrhoid, fissures, cysts) around the rectum. 1-keep your bowel soft. 2-sitez bath once a day if you could. 3-air daunt to set on. 4-some medication for inflammation (advil (ibuprofen) or other). If did not help try injection of steroid there by orthopedic surgeon. This could be doing again if it help. 5-last surgery to remove the part which bothering yo.

My tailbone hurts sooooo much. What should I do?

My tailbone hurts sooooo much. What should I do?

Coccydynia: Tailbone pain can occur with or without injury. Only real concern is to exclude a sacral tumor (extremely rare). If bowel/bladder habits normal, probably ok. Treatment included nsaid's, and a sitting pillow. Not a doughnut, but a foam wedge with triangle cutout. This keeps you sitting leaning forward without pressure on the coccyx. If persistent, removal is rarely needed but successful.

My tailbone hurts for almost 3 weeks now. If my chiropractor adjusts my hips will it help?

My tailbone hurts for almost 3 weeks now. If my chiropractor adjusts my hips will it help?

No: Except for placebo type effect. Just as adjusting the fit on someone pants has nothing to do with fixing someones oversized shirt/blouse. You hips are not your tailbone. So make sure you are getting treatment for the actual source of discomfort. Ask questions, and make sure you get explanations that make sense.

My tailbone hurts when I move a certain way! I lift my 8 yr old into his wheelchair and carry 6 month old in a car seat? Could it be from lifting?

My tailbone hurts when I move a certain way! I lift my 8 yr old into his wheelchair and carry 6 month old in a car seat? Could it be from lifting?

Yes: You have a 6 month old baby, which can be a lot of lifting, clumsy postures with the car seat, and loss of sleep. You also have a child who is older and heavier, who needs lifting. It must be difficult to find the time to care for your back (walk, stretch and strengthen) if your babies were born by cesarean section, you may need a corset to protect your back. Seek physical therapy for you!

Hy 2 days ago I fell in and now my tailbone hurts. There is no bruising at all but it hurts every time I walk sit or just lay in bed. Is this normal?

Yes: When you fall on the bottom, you can cause various injuries to the ligaments attached to the tailbone. In rare instances, you can also break the bone. For the vast majority of patients, the pain goes away with time, sitting on a pillow, and if you do not have a history of ulcers, the use of otc medications. If the pain does not subside within a week, , consider seeing your doctor.

My wife was just diagnosed with spina bifida occulata (age 23). They said it's mild. Her tailbone hurts. What's the treatment for something like this?

PT: The spina bifida occulta, may or may not be related to her symptoms. It most likely is an incidental finding and unrelated. Tailbone pain (coccygodynia) is treated with pt, exercise and nsaids (ibuprofen etc). It is usually self limited.

Strained muscles in lower back, tailbone hurts when sitting?

Strained muscles in lower back, tailbone hurts when sitting?

Tailbone pain: Sometimes a muscle strain can affect the lower part of the muscle insertion, close to the tailbone or sacrum and coccyx (truly the end of the spine). Sometimes its more referred pain from muscle spasm, and some nerve irritation that can lead to tailbone pain. Good luck!

What does it mean when your tailbone hurts and is red around it, but you're not sure if it's the bone or the skin? What causes it?

What does it mean when your tailbone hurts and is red around it, but you're not sure if it's the bone or the skin? What causes it?

Pilonidal cyst: Unless you have a herpes outbreak, diabetes with excessive tissue breakdown (decubitus ulcer) the most likely diagnosis is a pilonidal cyst which may be caused by an ingrown hair, excessive sweating, an inborn "dimple" that gets infected. Treatment may be excision, antibiotics, or a new "fibrin" glue. Check with a local g.P or internist.

Can you develop tailbone pain a year after giving birth? Tailbone hurts even to the tough. Had MRI and it looks fine. No falls. Very painful.

Coccydynia: Coccydynia is a medical term meaning pain in the coccyx or tailbone area, usually caused by by an injury, but it may occur seemingly spontaneously. There are many causes of tailbone pain that can mimic coccydynia, including sciatica, infection (including shingles), pilonidal cysts, sacroiliitis, and fractured bone (broken tailbone or tailbone fracture). Probably not due to birth from a year ago.

Pain in my lower back around the tailbone. Hurts when I arch my back. Also have some pain on the sides of my ribs. Help?

I am still in high school and my tailbone hurts when I sit and stand. I do sit alot, but that is because I attend school. Should I visit my doctor?

Coccyx pain: Tail bone pain is most commonly associated with sitting a lot, not so common when standing thought that can happen. I would suggest seeing your pediatrician for a recommendation for an over the counter medication to help you out.

I lost a lot of weight and now my tailbone hurts when sitting. I use the wedge pillow, my dr says just take an advil (ibuprofen)? It has been like this for a year

Let me help you: Patients with coccydynia are advised to use a well-padded seat when sitting or air donut and avoid long periodsof setting, keep bowel soft, use sits bath every day, antiinflammation and pain medications can relieve symptoms. Some patients with persistent coccydynia are treated with local cortisone injection. Rarely the problem require surgery.

What can I do if my tailbone hurts and I don't know why?

See your doctor: Various reasons why this can hurt. Get evaluated. For some, getting a u-shaped sitting pillow, or a donut pillow to sit on is a very helpful way to off-load the coccyx (tailbone) as it heals.

What do you suggest if my tailbone hurts! (easy 10 points)?

What do you suggest if my tailbone hurts! (easy 10 points)?

Tailbone pain: Tailbone pain is frequently caused by degenerated lumbar discs. Other causes include hemorrhoids, a fracture of the sacrum (usually occurs after a fall and there is significant osteoporosis) and sacroiliac joint inflammation. An MRI of the lumbar spine and pelvis can help identify the source of pain. A spine specialist can help you treat the pain.
