It depends on how it: was injured in the 1st place. There can B injury 2 the joints & they develop arthritis like any joint. Sounds like a bru --: Ised elbow, as the xrays were negative. Protect the elbow, for a 10-14 days and if its only a bruised, it'll get better. If not improving or getting worse, get a another xray as in some cases initial xray may not show a fx, which was present. So protecting it for 2 weeks and re-xraying it would be the way to go. It is possible: Cracked rib/sternum is common in mva in driver hitting chest on steering wheel or even the air bag, especially if you are older and have thin and brittle bones. Fractures typically cause quite a bit of pain right after trauma. If pain slowly came on 1-2 days after the mva, likely it is strain/contusion rather than fracture.
