Person with normal Total T4, T3 (liothyronine) Uptake, FTI, Ultrasensitive TSH but LOW Total T3 (liothyronine) (63.55 ng/dl) = Synthroid dose needs to increase?
It's OK: Hi. Your TSH is "normal", but I'd shoot for a value on therapy generally around the 1.0-1.5 range. The total T4, T3 (liothyronine) resin uptake, and FTI are prehistoric tests no one in the thyroid field has used for years. Your body regulates conversion of T4 to T3 (liothyronine), so your T3 (liothyronine) should be just what the body ordered. Your T3 (liothyronine) is close to the normal range; if you repeat it's likely to be within normal range. ...Read more
On my thyroid panel test T4. T3 (liothyronine) uptake, FTI are normal. But, my TSH is too low. What's that mean? Been getting treated for hypothyroidism for 2 yrs.

I got a thyroid test and need analysis of the results
Thyroxine t4 = 6.8
T3 uptake = 26
Free thyroxine index = 1.8?
All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, your T4 level is normal. However, it would have been useful to have TSH level.
For good health — Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Hi, t3 (liothyronine) uptake: 32, t4 free 1.35, t4 11.8, FTI 3.8, TSH 2.050, im taking .50 mcg levothyroxine.how's my thyroid, gain 40 pounds last few years?
Not your thyroid: I can't say if you needed to be started on T4 without seeing your test results before treatment but your current tests show normal thyroid levels on your current dose. It is rare for an underactive thyroid to case weight gain and when it does, the thyroid is severely underactive and weight gain is no more than 5-10 lb. So your 40 lb weight gain is likely due to lifestyle not hormonal issues ...Read more

T3 (liothyronine) uptake and T4 thyroxine and free T4 index are normal, but TSH is4.65 and per the lab that is high. The highest normal is 4.5. What does this mean?
Once - Nothing!: Any symptoms? Sublinical hypothyroid or nothing. This is an odd combo of tests as T4 & FTI essential measure the same thing. Your TSH is just above normal & there is sometimes variability in the test. I would suggest, repeat testing by an endocrinologist about 2 weeks after this one, with antithyroid antibodies. If (+) closer monitoring, if (-) less close f/u. Fam Hx also important. Don't worry! ...Read more

Felling bad: Hi. There is a tendency among patients to blame every ailment on the poor little thyroid. Your thyroid labs are a little inconsistent — you say free T4 is both 1.1 and 2.5; did you mean one is a free thyroxine index? If indicated, has your nodule been needle biopsied? Otherwise, there are a bazillion things that can make you feel bad with normal thyroid function. ...Read more

I am on levothyroxin 88mcg. But dr wants me to do the uptake scan, is this just for hyper or also hypo? Was told my T4 was high from last weeks blood
Thyroid scan: I use it for hyperthyroidism diagnosis. Not sure the rationale for this test in your case. If you are on thyroid supplement and your T4 is high, I would lower it and recheck in 6 weeks. If normal, I'd not do the scan. I cannot comment on your doc's decision since I don't know the full story. ...Read more
I have a T3 (liothyronine) uptake of 30, a T4 total of 11.3 and an FTI of 3.4. What does that mean? I'm also tired all the time.
If those numbers are correct that is not the cause of your tiredness.
That said, labs occasionally misread the patient's name on the blood specimen.
Either way, please get in touch with your primary doctor as soon as you can. ...Read more

Thyroid scan: It is hard to tell from your question and bio what your doctor is thinking. The scan will 1. Measure uptake. High uptake is consistent with hyperthyroidism, eg graves disease. 2. Give an image. Diffuse uptake (i.e. All over) suggests graves. Patchy could be a nodular goiter, or hashimotos. Have you been hyperthyroid? Talk to your endocrinologist. ...Read more

Both the T3 (liothyronine) uptake and FT4 Index are indirect evaluations of thyroid hormone levels.
Briefly, the total T4 is a reservoir for active hormone (T3 (liothyronine)). If the body senses low T4 or T3 (liothyronine), then it secretes TSH to tell the thyroid gland to make more hormone.

Normal levels: The t7 is a calculation based on the total T4 and t3 (liothyronine) uptake levels. The level of 8.75 is not correct. It should be 3.5 based on the numbers supplied. The TSH is the more important indicator of thyroid levels. Your TSH is normal. I am not sure what you mean by feeling bad, but it is likely unrelated to your thyroid level. ...Read more

Hypothyroidism : Your TSH is a substance made in the brain. When high it indicates the possibility that your thyroid gland is not able to make enough thyroid hormone. In some cases, it takes a repeat test to clarify this was not a false test, but at your age, and depending on how well or not you feel, it might indicate the need to start thyroid replacement treatment. Please review these tests with your doctor. ...Read more
