Not likely: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. From the information you provided you do not seem to have hyperthyroidism. ...Read more

T4 total elevated means what?

T4 total elevated means what?

Need more info: All lab results need to be evaluated in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the test is usually in the best position to do that. Total T4 alone is not a very good test. One needs, free T4 and TSH levels to provide a meaningful opinion. ...Read more

Could you have high total T4 levels but have normal free T4 levels?

Could you have high total T4 levels but have normal free T4 levels?

Yes: Total T4 reflects T4 bound to proteins in your blood. Free T4 measures the amount of T4 that is free and not bound so that it can be metabolically active. Thus women taking Estrogens (as in bc pills) have elevated levels of thyroid binding globulin and elevated total t4, but normal free t4. ...Read more

Previous thyroid issue, goiter has enlarged more but TSH 1.25 never been so low total T4 19.6 antib 9 please see history for other symp gp says norm?

Previous thyroid issue, goiter has enlarged more but TSH 1.25 never been so low total T4 19.6 antib 9 please see history for other symp gp says norm?

Thyroid level OK: The size of your thyroid is usually not related to the function. It appears that you are on thyroid hormone, presumably because your thyroid level was low. The total T4 level may be high because of high TBG related to oral contraceptives. A free T4 level will be more accurate, but the normal TSH indicates that you are on the correct dose of levothyroxine. ...Read more

Person with normal Total T4, T3 (liothyronine) Uptake, FTI, Ultrasensitive TSH but LOW Total T3 (liothyronine) (63.55 ng/dl) = Synthroid dose needs to increase?

Person with

normal Total T4, T3 (liothyronine) Uptake, FTI, Ultrasensitive TSH

but

LOW Total T3 (liothyronine) (63.55 ng/dl)

=

Synthroid dose needs to increase?

It's OK: Hi. Your TSH is "normal", but I'd shoot for a value on therapy generally around the 1.0-1.5 range. The total T4, T3 (liothyronine) resin uptake, and FTI are prehistoric tests no one in the thyroid field has used for years. Your body regulates conversion of T4 to T3 (liothyronine), so your T3 (liothyronine) should be just what the body ordered. Your T3 (liothyronine) is close to the normal range; if you repeat it it's likely to be within normal range. ...Read more

I have a T3 (liothyronine) uptake of 30, a T4 total of 11.3 and an FTI of 3.4. What does that mean? I'm also tired all of the time.

I have a T3 (liothyronine) uptake of 30, a T4 total of 11.3 and an FTI of 3.4. What does that mean? I'm also tired all of the time.

Tired: If those numbers are correct that is not the cause of your tiredness. That said, labs occasionally misread the patient's name on the blood specimen. Either way, please get in touch with your primary doctor as soon as you can. ...Read more

Hi Doctor my Tsh 0.058 and free t4 1.33 and my T4 total 12.50. What does this mean? Thanks

Hi Doctor my Tsh 0.058 and free t4 1.33 and my T4 total 12.50. What does this mean? Thanks

Thyroid tests: Hi, The tests you are describing are related to your thyroid gland. I will interpret the results for you: TSH is thyroid stimulating hormone and your level is normal. T4: Is a hormone level for Thyroxine. Your level is low. Since your TSH is normal and the T4 result is low means it is a problem in the pituitary gland. You should be evaluated by an Endocrinologist. ...Read more

I have hypo last result came TSH 2.66 T3 (liothyronine) uptake 42.60 T4 total 8.22 and t7 8.75 high i had 1 i131 one year ago iodo , feeling bad?

Normal levels: The t7 is a calculation based on the total T4 and t3 (liothyronine) uptake levels. The level of 8.75 is not correct. It should be 3.5 based on the numbers supplied. The TSH is the more important indicator of thyroid levels. Your TSH is normal. I am not sure what you mean by feeling bad, but it is likely unrelated to your thyroid level. ...Read more

My TSH, SERUM is 9.08 (high) but my T3 (liothyronine) Total SERUM is 0.75(normal) and T4 Total SERUM is 5.7(normal). Should I go for treatment?

Will be good to get: treatment. TSH is more sensitive indicator of thyroid function and even though you may not be deficient in T3 (liothyronine) and T4 yet, you are likely to be heading there. Starting the treatment will give you a head start to calibrating the dose of medication. ...Read more

Thyroidologist: Your thyroid parameters are within normal range except for borderline low tsh which may indicate subclinical hyperthyroidism. Are you taking any thyroid supplements? Are you symptomatic with weight loss, tremor, heat intolerance, thyroid nodules? An endocrinologist or thyroidologist is best qualified to evaluate, advise, follow-up and treat you if needed. ...Read more

Doc my T3 (liothyronine) total is 1.18 and T4 total is 9.60 also my TSH is 2.31 but mt Anti tpo is >1300 what can I do to lower my tpo also I have symptoms of hypo..

Hashimoto's : Hi. You have Hashimoto's by autoantibodies, with normal thyroid function (not uncommon, when you look for it). The degree of autoantibody elevation does not predict when the thyroid function will fail. And there's no treatment for the high TPO autoantibodies. Your thyroid function should be followed periodical and anytime new symptoms arise. Good luck! ...Read more

I had a thyroid panel test and my results are below. Should I be taking medication? TSH - 8.070 T4, Total - 5.4 T3 Uptake Ratio - 26 FreeThyroxine-1.4

I had a thyroid panel test and my results are below. Should I be taking medication?
TSH - 8.070
T4, Total - 5.4
T3 Uptake Ratio - 26
FreeThyroxine-1.4

Repeat test: Ideally, thyroid panel tests should be evaluated based on the reference range for the laboratory where the tests are performed. Most commonly, the reference range for TSH = 0.5 - 5.5. Although your TSH may be slightly high, you may not need treatment. Your total and free T4 are normal. Results such as these usually warrant retesting in 1-3 months. TSH will often return to normal without treatment. ...Read more
