No : No, you probably have blocked meibomian glands on the eyelids. I tell my patients to get a damp wash cloth and pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Test it on your wrist to make sure it's not too hot. Place warm compress the closed eyelid for about5-10 minutes and re-heating as necessary. Use dilute baby shampoo to clean lids. Yes----first level: Systane is brand of artificial tear, and there are many different brands. Artificial tear Gels are artificial tears as well, but thicker. Not every doctor treats the same way. My first line of treatment for dry eyes is artificial tears and warm compresses. If no improvement, I add restasis and other things afterward. ...Read more
