No : No, you probably have blocked meibomian glands on the eyelids. I tell my patients to get a damp wash cloth and pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Test it on your wrist to make sure it's not too hot. Place warm compress the closed eyelid for about5-10 minutes and re-heating as necessary. Use dilute baby shampoo to clean lids. If it persists, go for an exam. ...Read more

Eye irritation: You can try switching to systane ultra or refresh optive non-preservative artificial tears every 30-60 minutes, warm compresses, and ointment as needed. I was just given systane ultra for dry eyes. After I put them in do I need to close eyes? Or should I be blinking a lot to get it all around
Normal blinking: You will always blink a few extra times with the first application of any drop. This will spread it over the entire eye. You do not need to close the eyes unless it simply makes them feel better. Rely on your normal blinking to keep the eyes moist with the additional moisture of the applied Systane which is a terrific tear supplement. ...Read more
I have dry eyes & use systane ultra. What precautions i must take as my eyes stay dry all day and get red when i wake up. I use mobile a lot.
Well...: Dry eye signs (redness, burning, scratchiness, blurriness, and tearing) are generally intensified with prolonged near task activities which decreases blink frequency. Cutting back on these types of activities will help. Also 5-10' breaks every hour to help rest, relubricate, and focus away at distant objects can help. The use of Lubricating drops may need some change up. Try gels during sleep. ...Read more
