Synesthesia (Overview)

Synesthesia is a condition in which one sense (such as hearing) is perceived by additional senses (such as sight). An example is the joining of visual objects such as letters, shapes, or numbers with a sensory perception such as smell, color, or flavor. The most common synesthesia, colored letters and numbers, is when someone always sees a certain color in response to seeing a certain letter or number.
