Get it checked: You should be able to feel the implant under the skin when you press down with your finger. It should not be red. I would schedule a visit with the doctor that placed it and have them take a look. It may be ok but it should be checked ...Read more

I'm overweight and on implanon, ive only had 1period, been having weird symptoms. What could be wrong?

Nothing wrong: Implanon contains a progestin hormone that thins the lining of the uterus. It is not unusual to have infrequent period. Having said that, I do advise a pregnancy test just to be sure. ...Read more

I would like to know if I’m pregnant, I have the symptoms, but I have the implanon, so I’m unsure?

I would like to know if I’m pregnant, I have the symptoms, but I have the implanon, so I’m unsure?

Can do preg. Test: A urine pregnancy test, done correctly, gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon, and thus lead to a repeat test. If a woman gets her normal regular period, then she is not pregnant, and a test is not needed. ...Read more

Wondering if there are any symptoms associated with an expired implanon implant? Mine is one year overdue

Wondering if there are any symptoms associated with an expired implanon implant? Mine is one year overdue

Pregnancy possible: If the Implanon is in place longer than the typical 3 years, it may have exhausted its supply of hormone. So pregnancy is a possibility. Some sources cite a 4 year duration for contraception. Aside from that, the only other concern is having a foreign body under the skin. Btw, Implanon is no longer available in the us. ...Read more

I had my implanon remove Dec.4th, I've been feeling extremely nauseous. Is this a side effect from the hormones leaving my body?

I had my implanon remove Dec.4th, I've been feeling extremely nauseous. Is this a side effect from the hormones leaving my body?

Doubtful: This is not one of the usual side-effects of removal. You may have a stomach bug. Do remember that you can get pregnant as soon as the week after removal of the implanon but this would be too early to be causing the nausea. Hope you feel better soon. If not, check with your PCP. ...Read more

I had my out of date implanon implant out a month ago, when should I expect body to be back to normal? Implant was in 3 years over what it was meant.

I had my out of date implanon implant out a month ago, when should I expect body to be back to normal? Implant was in 3 years over what it was meant.

Your body is already: Since the implant "was in 3 years over. ..", its content of the progestin hormone was probably used up and therefore you have had your body "back to your normal" all that time. Consult your gynecologist if you are concerned about your menses, pregnancy or need another effective LARC (long acting reversible contraceptive) like Implanon and set your "reproductive health plan" with that clinician. ...Read more

I just removed my implanon, how long does it take for the hormones to leave the body and have my period go back to normal?

Totally variable: Could take weeks to months before your hypothalamus, pituitary & ovaries wake up from their hormonal haze and realize they are no longer being down-regulated by the Implanon. Very individualized from patient to patient. Remember, you will ovulate before you get your first true period. ...Read more

Got the implanon Feb 10th, had my period Feb 20th. Haven't had a period or any symptoms sense. Took an HPT 2 weeks ago and was negative. Concerning?

Not uncommon: This form of birth control can cause your periods to decrease or stop all together (although this soon after implantation not common). One of it's selling points. If concerned regarding possible pregnancy do home preg test on first morning urine at least 2 wks after earliest unprotected sex. If neg repeat in 7-10d. If both neg unlikely you are preg. Hope this was helpful. Best of luck. Dr. R ...Read more

I have had the implanon for five years now but am recently experiencing pregnancy symptoms. Period is 15 days late pregnancy test was negative. Help!

Watch for pregnancy: Please be aware that Implanon only lasts for 3 years. So if you have really had it in for 5 years it is no longer effective, and you had more chance of getting pregnant. If you really are not pregnant, and period 2 weeks late, there can be multiple reasons including stress, hormones being off, gaining or losing weight, too much soy, for instance. ...Read more

I have the implanon, I have been feeling light headed, nauseous, having body aches, mostly in my hip, also brown stretchy discharge which never had.

Implanon effects: Spotting and/or irregular bleeding is common with implanon, particularly during the first 90 days, after which the irregular spotting should improve. The light-headedness, nausea, and body aches you describe, may also be side effects of the implanon, though not as common. Even these symptoms should subside. Please follow up with your gynecologist regarding these symptoms and alternatives. ...Read more
