Cannabis: Marijuana smoke contains mucosal irritants. Inhalation with marijuana is more prolonged & deeper than with tobacco. I just woke with sore throat and area behind uvula swollen and wondered what causes this? The swollen area is so enlarged it flaps when i exhale.
It is likely infecti: Sore throat is frequently caused by the head-cold virus which usually resolves in 4-5 days with the help of tylenol (acetaminophen) pills and lots of warm liquids. If you develop fever or enlarged lymph glands, it can also be strept throat infection(bacterial infection). Have a cold for a few days with moderate sore throat. No fever. Uvula swollen in the morning esp. Cold clearing up but sore throat remains. When looking at uvula it has white spot on it. Maybe strep?
