Possibly: Symptoms of throat cancer do include a sore throat that doesn't go away as well as occasional bleeding. Although throat cancer is not common in a young person who has never smoked, it is becoming more frequent due to human papilloma virus (HPV). Many possibilities: That symptom is very common and could be associated with many things. It appears that you don't have an enlarged thyroid gland or other mass because of the ct, making cancer unlikely. It can be related to acid reflux(gerd) and laryngopharyngeal reflux(lpr). Some people require mo's of twice daily reflux meds to help. Another issue can be muscle tension dysphonia, so see an ent/laryngologist. ...Read more

Not enough: Unfortunately you did not include the most important part, your symptoms. Hard to comment otherwise, but other diagnoses are more likely, given your age. Would still suggest quitting smoking, since that is a predisposing factor. ...Read more

Either: I'd encourage you to stop smoking; it's just not good for you. Both throat and ptc can spread to the lymph nodes in your central neck, but given your history, ptc seems more likely. A serum thyroglobulin, thyroid scan, and a thyroid needle biopsy can get to the bottom of this. ...Read more
