Symptoms Of Swollen Tonsil And Ea Pain
What does a swollen tonsil and a cough mean if those are my only symptoms? Will it go away on it's own?
My tonsil feels like they're swollen and have for a while now and I'm not showing any symptoms for anything what could be the problem?
Quite a lot of thing: Mostly infection. Viral infections including mononucleosis are the most common. Fever/ large lymph nodes, drainage are signs that antibiotics would be needed and having none of these would imply a virus where antibiotics won't do anything. Cannot say for sure unless seeing it. ...Read more

Certainly a mild cold could do this (and there is a cold going around that has made the front page sections!)
Other mild viruses such as mononucleiosis, or tumor, or other infection would be expected to do much more than mild increase in shize of one tonsil. ...Read more

Cancer: There are many different types of malignancies, some which may occur as a result of persistent inflammation. Coincidence?: If everything is as stated, then it is likely a coincidence that you developed swollen tonsils after oral sex. Recently had several tonsil stones and swollen tonsils. Is tonsillectomy recommended for 29 y/o with these symptoms, or is that not necessary?
Keep your tonsils: Tonsils exist for a purpose. They are huge lymph nodes stationed where they are as this is one way bacteria get into the body, through the mouth. Makes sense. It was fashionable to take them out for sore throat not so long ago. Doesn't work. The throat that remains gets sore. There are very few indications for tonsillectomy. Only consider it if recommended by an ENT doctor. ...Read more
