Symptoms Of Spleen Cyst
I have a cyst in my spleen 13cm in size and partially calcified. Will aspiration of the cyst ease my symptoms, could it come back?

Ultrasound: Nancy, Ultrasound is excellent at viewing the spleen. CT also offers a good view, but carries the downside of radiation exposure. Due to the safety, doctors will often start with ultrasound, then reserve CT scan for those patients where they see an area of concern. Hope this helps!
Probably nothing: These are usually similar to the trivial cysts that folks get under their skin. If your physician is not concerned, I would not be either.See 1 more doctor answer
Needs watching.: Cysts found on the liver or spleen during a ct or ultrasound are quite common. They are usually benign growths, that are simply followed with a repeat scan. If it's not growing, it is left alone. Splenic cysts may be hereditary, related to trauma or parasitic infection but usually there is no clear explanation. Follow up but no worries - this is not a big deal.
Various causes: Splenic cysts have a number of causes, including congenital or familial (present @ birth or running in the family). They can also result from trauma and certain immune conditions like sarcoidosis. I notice that you live in Sri Lanka. Infections, particularly parasites, are a common cause of splenic cysts in southern Asia. Consult your doctor about definitive diagnosis and treatment.

Cyst on spleen does a cyst on the spleen cause you to eat a lot. How do you know if the cyst is small or large?
No: A cyst on the spleen will not affect your appetite. However the cyst was diagnosed, ct or sonogram, there should be some measurement of the cyst. Do not be concerned, as congenital cysts of the spleen, liver, and/or kidneys are not uncommon. Your primary doctor can answer any other questions at your next visit. Good luck.

They are usually asymptotic and incidentally discovered at imaging. Small and asymptomatic cysts do not require treatment. Symptomatic cysts are managed surgically.

I am having my spleen removed with a cyst. Dr says he is trying lapro but I will have a 4 inch incisions to pull it out. How long will my recovery?

Usually normal: Many people have small cysts on or in their liver, spleen or kidneys. They are usually harmless and may get slowly larger over time. The only ones to worry about are those that are seen after an injury from an impact of some sort. Those could bleed and need to be evaluated at the hospital.
