Sleeping on a box spring, can't buy mattress, back hurts with knots, how can I fix this? Is there permanent damage from a bad bed?
No: Box spring just lifts mattress off of floor. If it feels lumpy to you some of the insulating material may have deteriorated. You may be feeling the springs. Excessive night sweats, bad sleep, back pain since 2 weeks. Can this be due to my new foam mattress and using two blankets as the room is quite cold?
Not necessarily: As a mattress change can affect your sleep and cause back pain, but less likely night sweats. Some mattress/sheet combos do not breath well, so I can't say it's impossible that it's all related to the mattress/blanket combo. But I would try to switch over to a lightweight cotton(or other natural) fiber blanket and see how you feel. Otherwise, seek an in-person eval for other issues at hand. ...Read more

Night sweats: there are many potential causes to sweating at night. The term night sweats generally refers to excessive sweating at night related to a hormone imbalance.
There is no one answer to explain the origin of sweating at night. Some common causes are: infection, some cancers, several medications, low blood sugars and a host of other less common reasons.
Were going to focus in on the hormone imbalance commonly seen in menopause, although by no means limited to menopause. We have seen a common night sweats picture in the men with prostate cancer with elevated estrogen levels. Swelling often starts around your neck.
We generally start with saliva testing which allows us to identify what the hormone imbalance actually is and treat accordingly. When we don't start with saliva testing we very often get very good success with progesterone cream in the form of wild yam cream. There are many different preparations of wild yam cream on the market and often the preparation does not have enough progesterone cream to be effective.
The above is the simple answer the better answer is to work with a healthcare professional who has experiencing natural hormone therapy.

On day 2 of 40 mg predn for bad neuro symptom flare of undiff ctd.Symptoms better but brain is still tired. Why am i still so tired if sleeping nights?
In withdrawal from fentanyl for 4 weeks now. Off patch for 5 days, aggitated, still unable to sleep, and itching badly. How do I ease these symptoms?
See your GP: Fentanyl is a strong form of opiate and the immediate stoppage can only cause withdrawal (not fatal but it sure feels bad). Consider asking your gp for a reduced dose or another form of opiate that you can more gradually reduce. Also consider changing from xanax (alprazolam) to Klonopin and weaning off of that as well. There are antidepressants that would be safer for your conditions in the long term. ...Read more

Few things: Many recommend rotating and turning over the mattress regularly. This way, the position of your body is on different parts of the mattress and spreads out the areas of weight over more of the mattress. Also, you can get a piece of plywood (3/8 - 1/2 inch thick, at least) and place it under the mattress for greater support. Less costly than a new mattress. Good luck. ...Read more
